Ahn. See Wormeldange.
Alscheid. See Kautenbach.
Altrier. See Bech.
Altwies. See Mondorf-les-Bains.
Arsdorf. 350 inh. - a: 430 m. Bilsdorf. 110 inh. - a: 450 m. Riesenhof.
a: 460 m. Ardennes villages situated 10 km from the Belgian border, away
from heavy traffic, near the Lake of the Upper Sure. The nearby heights
offer pleasant walks through vast forests with views over the lake.
Bascharage. 3 670 inh. - a: 280 m. Located on the main road
Luxembourg-Paris and on the crossroad of the mining district and the green
valleys of the Capellen country. Throughout the year, upon a written or
telephonic request, guided visits at following installations: Brasserie
Nationale (with a free drink of beer of this brewery), phone 50 901 121,
Norton S.A. (Clipper), phone 50 90 71 and Taillerie de Pierres Precieuses
(gem cutting), phone 50 90 32.
Bavigne. See Kaundorf.
Beaufort. 916 inh. - a: 409 m. Situated on a plateau in the" Moellerdall"
(Luxembourg's Switzerland). Modern castle and the imposing ruins of a 12th
century castle. A Neogothic church well worth visiting. Magnificent views.
Well kept paths lead through rocky formations and the gorges of the
"Hallerbach" and the "Saueracht", in the direction of Grundhof and Dillingen
in the Valley of The Sure. A regional walking map is available.
Bech. Altrier and Hersberg. 720 inh. - in a: 300 m. On the verge of the
vast forests of Marscherwald and Moellerdall with its small valleys and rocks.
In Hersberg the oak of the Virgin, classified monument and reputed place of
pilgrimage. Interesting chapel. Network of walking paths. In Bech vacation
home for groups of youngsters.
Bech-Kleinmacher. See Wellenstein.
Belvaux. See Sanem.
Berdorf. 500 inh. - a: 400 m. One of the main tourist centres in the
Grand Duchy located on a vast tableland overlooking the valleys of the Black
Ernz, the Sure and the Aesbach. Well kept footpaths through gulfs and chasms.
Rocky summits with viewpoints. 3000 acres of forest. Rock climbing in the
Wanterbach. Recreative centre Martbusch. At the church Roman altar with
sculptures of Apollo, Hercules, Minerva and Juno. Grundhof, Bollendorf,
Weilerbach. 400 inh. On the banks of the Sure, at the entrance of the
Moellerdall-region and the natural Germano-Luxembourg park.
Bettborn (Pretzerdall). 800 inh. - a: 281 m. A peaceful valley off the
main roads, with walks through the surrounding orchards and forests. An ideal
centre for complete rest.
Bettembourg. 7 400 inh. - a: 304 m. Bettembourg is located 10 km from the
capital city and 5 km from the French border and attracts, thanks to its
"Parc Merveilleux", thousands of visitors every year. The "Parc Merveilleux",
with its fairy tales, game enclosure, playground, mini-train, pony-express,
mini-boats, miniature golf, luna park and concerts enables the visitors a most
enjoyable stay. Pleasant municipal park with pond. Fitness trail.
Bettendorf. 877 inh. - a: 192 m. Situated on the Diekirch-Echternach road
in the Valley of the Sure, with varied landscape and well marked walks.
Bigelbach. See Reisdorf.
Bigonville. 400 inh. - a: 321-524 m. Charming village, typically
Ardennais. It lies on a plateau of farmlands, surrounded by wooded slopes
studded with great slabs of slate, reaching down into steep, twisting valleys,
of which the most attractive is that of the Upper-Sure. Many beautiful walks
with points from which magnificent views can be admired.
Bilsdorf. See Arsdorf.
Binsfeld. See Weiswampach.
Bivels. 100 inh. - a: 235 m. Stolzembourg. 250 inh. Two villages lying in
the narrow valley of the Our. There are lovely walks in the district and many
views. At Stolzembourg the ruins of a mediaeval castle will be found, and
opposite Bivels is the castle of Falkenstein. The Our Dam is downstream from
Bivels.
Boevange-sur-Attert with the localities and communities of Grevenknapp,
Bill, Finsterthal, Buschdorf and Brouch. 1 400 inh. - a: 240 m. Wooded country
on the banks of the Attert. Pleasant walks link up these localities with the
Helperknapp, where traces of Roman fortifications and the St. Willibrord
chapel and spring may be found. Annual procession in honour of the Saint on
Whitsun Monday. Game enclosure at Brouch. Roman tumulus at Bill.
Bollendorf-Pont. See Berdorf.
Born-Moersdorf. a: 150 m. Each of these charming villages has 300
inhabitants and lies in the wide valley of the Lower Sure, surrounded by
forests and orchards. Very quiet region.
Boulaide. 600 inh. - a: 495 m. Baschleiden, Surre. High on a plateau,
overlooking the wooded hills of the Ardennes and surrounded by numerous walks.
Panoramas: Hochfels, Tempelskamp, Bourglay, Pont Misere, Moulin de Boulaide.
Upstream the Sure flows in her initial river-bed and downstream she widens
into the Upper Sure lake where all kinds of water sports are practised .

Bourglinster. See Junglinster.
Bourscheid. 234 inh. - a: 490 m. Stands high on a plateau, bordered by
the rivers Sure and Wark. Views and magnificent walks to other villages in
the area: Michelau. 223 inh. - a: 230 m and Goebelsmuhle. 25 inh. - a: 250 m
in the Sure Valley, and Welscheid, 130 inh. - a: 225 m in the Wark Valley.
Two river beaches at Bourscheid-Plage and Dirbach. This Ardennes region is
dominated by the imposing ruins of Bourscheid Castle, which look down from a
rocky peak, 450 feet above the Sure. Restoration works are actually executed.

Breidfeld. See Weiswampach.
Burden. See Erpeldange.
Christnach. See Waldbillig.
Clervaux. 1 000 inh. - a: 350-520 m. A locality situated in a deep and
narrow valley beside the river Clerve in the midst of the Ardennes. The
Benedictine Abbey of St. Maurice and St. Maur, built in 1910 in
Romanesque-Burgundian style, dominates the valley. Exhibition "The Monastical
Life". In the feudal castle, founded in the 12th century, exhibitions "Models
of the ancient Luxembourg Castles", the "Family of Man", photographs by Edw.
Steichen and "Souvenirs, documents, arms and uniforms of world war II". An
interesting parish church in the Rhenish-Romanesque style, was built in 1910
of local stone. Various historical monuments. In the neighbourhood are several
churches (Munshausen, Hachiville, etc.) whose architecture, furnishings and
frescoes are most interesting. 85 kilometres of well marked walks with vistas.
Two fishing ponds. A regional walking map is available.
Colmar-Berg. 1 000 inh. - a: 215 m. In this fertile valley, surrounded by
extensive woods is the imposing Grand Ducal residence (Visits are not
authorized). "Goodyear" tire plant.
Consdorf. 950 inh. - a: 379 m. Scheidgen. 250 inh. A picturesque holiday
resort, and one of the principal gateways to the "Moellerdall", an attractive
region combining the natural beauty of woods, rocks and mountain streams.
Remains of a Roman camp. Cycling track.
Dahl. 170 inh. - a: 480 m. Goesdorf. 200 inh. and Nocher. 165 inh. Three
farming villages situated on one of the most beautiful plateaux of the
Ardennes. They
