The mouse is used to do many things such as click, double-click, and drag.
The mouse is used to control the arrow symbol also known as a "cursor".

Single-click.
To choose, or "select," an item on the screen, roll the cursor over the item and click the left button on your mouse.

Double-Click
If you click your mouse button twice, really fast, your computer knows the difference and reads it as a double click.
Double-click on the pieces from left to right to complete the puzzle.
Drag and Drop
If you click your mouse on an object and not release the button, you can drag the object until you release the mouse button. Notice that the finger is pressing down on the mouse button without releasing.
When you lift your finger up from the mouse button, you will release what ever you are dragging.
You can use the drag and drop to move items, change or modify text, and highlight an object.

These are the numeric keys. You enter numbers in here. You can use either the alpha numbers or the keypad numbers (green and red).
These three keys are the Ctrl, alt, and del keys that when all are pressed at the same time will reboot your computer.
This is the Enter Key. This key is used like a return on a typewriter and as a mouse click.
This is the Space Bar Key. It works just like a typewriter advancing one space at a time.
This is the Escape Key. This key is used mainly in DOS applications to exit or "escape" what you are doing.
These are the function keys. They are assigned different function depending on the application. Some of these are the tab key, num-lock, caps-lock, scroll-lock, shift, page up and page down. These keys also perform shortcuts for applications such as cut, paste, copy, exit, and many others.
These are the arrow keys. These are located with the number-pad and by themselves. You use them to navigate, move the cursor, and change lines.
These are the alpha or alphabet keys. They can be used like a typewriter to enter text.
2. Examine the system. Your eyes, ears, and nose can help identify a lot of computer problems. Read the error messages, check connections, look for LED displays. Listen for common, normal noises such as a fan, beeps, and fixed disk drive sounds. Also look and listen for signs of more serious trouble, like crackling electrical noises, smoke or burning smells. If any serious symptoms are present, turn off the computer immediately and call for assistance.
3. Check your documentation. There are troubleshooting guides and hints in your User's Guides that may help you solve a problem simply and easily. When in doubt, call your local Compaq Reseller or the Compaq Technical Support number.
