  6.     He was the first black elected mayor of one of America's top
  7. three cities and has held the job for a record-breaking five
  8. terms, 19 years. But last week Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, 74
  9. -- affectionately called "Mayor for Life" -- announced that he
  10. would not run again next June. Bradley was known as a coalition
  11. builder who opened up government to the city's diverse ethnic
  12. groups, and his departure marks the end of an era. His legacy:
  13. both the resoundingly successful 1984 Olympics as well as the
  14. devastating 1992 riots.
