  7.     The '50s brought us the airborne axes and knives of 3-D
  8. cinema. The '70s saw Sensurround -- huge speakers that uncannily
  9. duplicated the experience of listening to huge speakers. Now
  10. comes "virtual reality," a high-tech process that envelops
  11. viewers in a world of computer-generated images. Usually this
  12. requires wearing a helmet that would have embarrassed Captain
  13. Video. But The Lawnmower Man, due in March, tries to re-create
  14. virtual reality for seatbound moviegoers. A tale of science run
  15. amuck, it features rising stars Jeff Fahey and Jenny Wright
  16. making literal love in virtual reality.
