- Selecting a correspondence
- --------------------------
-
-
- Start by loading the file called Rep/Calls, from the main menu, select
- company contacts. Now select the first entry that being A, this will bring
- up a companies name and the person who is the main contact. In this case its
- Johnathan Anscombe, who works for a company called Isotec.
-
- Now move the mouse pointer over the icon titled "Correspondence.." and select
- that icon. This will bring a new window upon the screen titled Sticky Pad,
- move the pointer to the word in brackets called link and now select it. This
- will automatically bring up the correspondence record. If you look at the
- window you will notice the date of the letter sent and at what time. Also
- highlighted is the icon called needs reply, this is telling us that we have
- sent some form of Correspondence that needs a reply of some sort.
-
- Looking up to the top left of the window, you will notice a green telephone
- dial, what this tells us is we have a link to the address book. Now move the
- pointer to the bottom left of the window and select the blank icon, once you
- have selected this by double clicking. As if by magic a standard letter will
- appear into Edit. This option is very useful for keeping tabs on all your
- letters. This is a link option, every part of this program has some form of
- link option. Links can be made across the whole of Almanac. Now you know how
- powerful this option can be.
-
- If you look in the example directory you will see a text file called
- standard. Almanac loaded this file from the correspondence window, you can of
- course load the file directly into !Edit to check.
-
-
- Linked Events
- =============
-
- Go back to the address window, now select Linked Events. This will open
- another window called Sticky Pad, inside the window you will notice two
- linked items. The first one we have already looked at, which we discussed
- above. Move the pointer to the second event and select it, we have now
- opened a diary window. The window consists of a green telephone dial top
- left, which is linked to the address book. Looking further down you will
- notice the date of the Diary entry, you will also notice that the repeating
- every option has also been set.
-
- So what Peter has entered into the Diary, is that he plays Badminton with
- Johnathan Anscombe every week until the 12th of December 1994.

- option the window will clear. A new icon will appear called "Do Search..",
- select this you will then see a new window appear this will show all the
- links to every company and the name of the contact within that company. If
- you now select any one of these, it will bring up all the information about
- that company.
-
-

- Select the day Diary from Almanacs main menu, if nothing appears for that
- day, move the mouse pointer to the arrow to the right of the date and press
- the left mouse button to bring you onto the next day. You can as before
- select any of the events for editing or updating.
-
-
- Weekly Diary
- ============
-
- By selecting the Weekly Diary, you can call up a list of events for that
- week. Notice how the weeks are numbered and how the icons are arranged in
- that week. If you select any of the dates which have any events in it will
- list those for you automatically. So you can browse through any entry
- that has been made.
-
-
- Monthly Planner
- ===============
-
- As the title suggests this plans the whole months movements for Peter. So he
- can see where he should be and when. Again selecting any events will bring
- up its contents.
-
-
- Yearly Planner
- ==============
-
- This option gives the entire contents of his yearly diary, which in a reps
- case is all so very important. By selecting any one of the entries will
