  1. The Tower of Babel
  2. Soon after the Great Flood, there were thousands of people
  3. living on the earth again.  After a while the people began
  4. to forget about God's promise not to flood the earth again.
  5. They decided to build a tower that would reach to heaven. If
  6. another flood came they would climb their tower and be safe.
  7. Instead of trusting in God's promise to keep them safe, they
  8. decided to trust in their own efforts.  So they began to
  9. build the high tower.  Now God was not pleased that man had
  10. forgotten Him and He was not pleased with this tower.  God
  11. decided that the work on the tower must be stopped.  All the
  12. people on the earth spoke the same language after the flood.
  13. God caused something very strange to happen.  Suddenly, the
  14. people began to speak different languages! The workers could
  15. no longer understand each other.  The work on the tower
  16. stopped and God scattered the people throughout the land.
  17. The tower was called Babel.  Babel means confusion.
