This is a crippled version of CrapSim 1.0. Before we tell you how we
crippled it, we'll tell you what it is.
WHAT IS CRAPSIM?
CrapSim is a craps simulator/trainer which runs on computer systems with at
least EGA-compatible video systems and a two- or three-button mouse.
CrapSim allows you to make all of the bets that you can make at the casino,
including buying and laying numbers, placing numbers to win or to lose, and
all propostition bets. It allows you to control the maximum table odds,
whether your bets work on the come-out, payoff for 12 in the field, and the
table maximum and minimum bettin limits. For the beginning and experienced
craps player alike, CrapSim offers extensive on-line help to tell how each
of the bets are made, what the good and bad bets are, and how the bets are
paid off. It will tell you how much in free odds you can take, and how to
bet so that the casino will pay you off correctly! CrapSim can also tell
you the outcome of each and every bet you make, so you can see how your
different bets are paid off.
For the serious craps player, CrapSim keeps extensive statistics to help you
analyze your performance: your staring bankroll; how much you've bet, won,
and lost; how much you've won and lost on each kind of bet placed; longest
winning and losing streaks; and much more.
CrapSim also offers an automatic play feature which allows you to set up
certain bets and betting strategies so you can see how they perform in the
long run. You can have the computer display what it is doing during this
time, to show how different bets are made, won, and lost. If you are only
interested in the results, you can turn off the display for greater speed.
SO HOW IS THIS DEMO VERSION DIFFERENT?
In this version the dice only have five sides (one is missing a 2, the other
is missing a 4), you are limited to 75 rolls, the auto-play feature will not
allow you to make place, buy, or lay bets, and the on-line help for the bets
is limited. When you purchase CrapSim v. 1.0, all of these limitations are
removed, and in addition you receive a 100 page manual which teaches you how
to play craps intelligently, as well as how to use the simulator to maximize
your gains and minimize your losses in the casino.
To use this demo, you need the following equipment:
100% compatible IBM PC computer system.
DOS version 3.3 or higher
At least 450K bytes of memory.
At least 400K bytes of free space on your disk drive (you can run it off
of either a floppy or a hard disk).
A two- or three-button Microsoft Compatible mouse.
A 100% EGA-compatible video system.
Equipment requirements for the commercial version are identical, but you'll
want to have lots of free disk space if you want to take maximum advantage of
the auto-play feature.
GETTING STARTED
Although most of the on-line help for the bets has been removed in this demo
version, there still is extensive help available for the simulator
functions. Start the simulator by executing 'crapsimc' (without the quotes,
of course). After you get past the notice screen, simply hit F1 for help on
the welcome screen. Once the craps table is displayed, click on the '?'
button (to the right of the credit card) to get general help. After that
you're on your own!
