  1. FORGOTIT.EXE is a small Windows 95 desktop utility who has the same usage than
  2. the original trademark "Post It".
  3.  
  4. Forgot-It is useful for keeping notes and reminders on your Windows 95 desktop,
  5. rather than on hard to find little pieces of paper.
  6.  
  7. Forgot-It is shareware.  The price is U.S.$15
  8.

  11. To install Forgot-It, simply unzip FORGOTIT.ZIP in a directory.
  12. Then right-click on FORGFRE.INF if it's a french version of Windows 95
  13.                     FORGENG.INF if it's an english version
  14. (means that you startup directory is either 'Startup' or 'Démarrage'...)
  15. and select Install....

  17. You can too uninstall Forgot-It by the standard way...
  18. (ControlPanel/Application/Remove)

  24. A little yellow icon is placed on the Taskbar when Forgot-It is launched.
  25.  
  26. Click the LEFT mouse button on the yellow Forgot-It Taskbar icon to open the
  27. Forgot-It window.
  28. Clicking the RIGHT mouse button on the Forgot-It Taskbar icon will open
  29. a configuration menu.

  34. The following Shortcut Keys will function in the open Forgot-It window :

  36. ESC : Minimize the Forgot-It Window to the Task bar icon
  37. F2  : Save NOW the contents of Forgot-It. (Default is saved when closing Forgot-It)
  38. Alt-F4 or Alt-X : Exit Forgot-It
  39. Ctrl-A : Select All
  40. Alt-F  : Select default Font.
  41. Alt-L  : load an external file, and put it a the cursor.
  42. Alt-S  : save the note to an external file
  43. Ctrl-D : Date in short format
  44. Alt-D  : Date in long format
  45. Ctrl-T : Time
  46. F1 : Help
  47. F2 : Save now!

  51. The open Forgot-It window will cycle through 10 different pages.
  52. Click on the left and right arrows next to the page numbers to cycle
  53. through the pages.

  55. You can open 4 different Forgot-It windows.

  59. Forgot-It will allow you to set alarms. To set an alarm, insert, in the note,
  60. the DATE that you want the alarm to activate, as follows:

  62. @01/12/96 (European format)
  63. or
  64. @12.01.96 (U.S.A. format)

  66. The note will appear with an alert box when the day is reached. (The examples
  67. above will generate an alarm on December 1, 1996.)
  68. Then Forgot-It will replace the '@' symbol with the '#' symbol indicating
  69. that the date for the alarm has passed.

  71. When the alarm occurs, an alart box is displayed, with the text following the alarm.
  72. i.e @01/12/96 Essai d'alarme

  74. If immediatly following date of the alarm, you put '-13:00' i.e, it will make alarm
  75. at 13hours 00 mins...

  78. @12.01.96-14:30 will alarm the First December 96, at 14h30

  83. If you don't want the Forgot-It icon to appear on the Taskbar when the
  84. Forgot-It Window is open, you can remove it.
  85. To do this, edit POSTIT.INI (in the Windows directory), by adding the
  86. following line in the [Post-It] section:

  90. When you restart Forgot-It, the Forgot-It Icon will not appear in the Taskbar,
  91. and the menu bar on the open Forgot-It window will be a little smaller.

  95. About color selection :

  97. Windows don't enable every colors for an Edit-Window...Only no-dithered colors
  98. are useable for Edit-Windows when you are in 16colors or 256colors....
  99. If you select a bad color for Forgot-It, you should get 2 colors in the
  100. edit window : 1 for text, and one other for background...
  101. (Difficult to explain : Try by yourself...)
