  8.     This Demo is -- first and foremost
  9. -- a [joke]. Or a commentary. Or a
  10. challenge. You will need to decide.
  11.  
  12.     Let's start with the joke: ERD is
  13. comprised of two Dudez of Stellar
  14. Reputation, but their full DemoGroup
  15. name "NTSC/ERD" gives away the tongue-
  16. in-cheek nature of their work:
  17.  
  18.         ELITE RULLING DIVISION
  19.  
  20.  (Note the deliberate misspelling of
  21. "ruling!") The name of this Demo also
  22. sets the stage -- CISAB is rather
  23. backwards, eh? And the commentary
  24. speaks to a truth in the DemoScene: we
  25. are not seeing much that is extra-
  26. ordinarily new or creative.
  27.  
  28.     This is a Pure Basic Demo. The
  29. Coder (hiding behind the pseudo-name
  30. of MAC) had to brush up on FOR-NEXT
  31. loops and MID$'s to pull it off. The
  32. bragz -- jittering across the screen
  33. -- are as obnoxiously cynical, self-
  34. aggrandizing, and badly misspelled as
  35. anything coming out of Europe. (No
  36. offense, guyz. We on this continent
  37. are just getting used to Huked on
  38. Fonix)
  39.  
  40.     The Coder tries to do it all --
  41. scrolling text, moving sprites (a
  42. BLOCK?!), even DYCP (Different Y
  43. Character Positioned) text. And let's
  44. face it, the results are worse than
  45. lame. "Camp" is probably a better
  46. word.
  47.  
  48.     Think of all the Demos that do
  49. almost the same things -- scrolling
  50. texts, moving sprites, sinus plots,
  51. DYCP scrolls, split screens, etc, etc.
  52. And in fact, they really go nowhere
  53. in particular.
  54.  
  55.     CISAB is the club-footed epitome
  56. of such high quality lamers -- not
  57. because Basic is lame, but because the
  58. Dudez often fail to exceed the basic
  59. elements of a mediocre demo.
  60.  
  61.     CISAB is also a challenge. If the
  62. Coder was a novice, and was doing
  63. everything he could to use Basic to
  64. its greatest effect -- this demo would
  65. be [way] cool. Not because it is
  66. cooler than everything else out there,
  67. but because someone sat down late one
  68. night and asked:
  69.  
  70.   "What can [I] do with this thing?"
  71.  
  72.  And whatever that is -- it is COOL!
