REVIEW: Commodore Gazette
by Dave Moorman
There is another disk monthly for
C-64 computers -- the Commodore
Gazette. Published by Christopher
Ryan, this 4 - 1541 side/1 - 1581
compendium is chock full of public
domain software and some excellent
articles.
Chris has worked on his presenter
software this year, and the opening
menu offers either the text files or
the programs. With text files, a
reader program opens for viewing the
files.
The program menu is more direct
and helpful, including 6 or more PD
games, and a couple of utilities, plus
access to the text reader.
As you might expect, the games and
puzzles are early-80's Commodore. Many
appear to be from an education package
CBM published early on. But some are
real jewels. On the July issue, I
found a bowling game that proved to be
quite a challenge, and a helicopter
game that was somewhere between tough
and frustrating.
CG is a labor of love for Chris.
He offers a one-year, 12 issue sub-
scription for just $25, which includes
shipping and handling. Not a bad deal!
In fact, I encourage LOADSTARites
to give Commodore Gazette a shot -- as
an "add-on" (not an "instead of") to
LOADSTAR.
