^3 W E L C O M E T O I S S U E 2 !
^7EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
^4 We hope that you enjoyed Christmas and that you will all have a
^4great 1992.
^6 It was a bit early to send Christmas greetings at the beginning of
^6November, but this issue is right on time for the New Year.
^5 What do you think of the new graphics?? They were designed for us
^5by Dicon Peeke of Wildfire Graphics who has promised us more goodies
^5in the graphics department in the future.
^2 We hope that you find the facilities of the magazine useful. All
^2instructions are on the text file What's Up doc, but in case you've
^2not read them,
^4 `C' turns the display to two colours if the multicoloured display is
^4difficult to read
^4 `M' turns the music off or on.
^4 `P' will print out the article you are looking at, NB it will not
^4print an index
^4 `S' brings up a sample player so that you will be able to hear the
^4samples on the disk.
^2 This sample player was written by Peter Winnard of Technical Fred
^2Software. He thought that this was a part of the magazine that was
^2lacking, after all you can look at a picture, whereas you could not
^2try a sound sample. So he wrote this for us and kindly donated it to
^2TA.
^2 This is not just a sound sample player, you can play a sam forwards,
^2backwards, at a different speed, forwards or backwards, or loop it
^2either way around. So Have fun!!
^2 We hope that Peter will continue to produce quality programs like
^2this.
^5 This issue is full of goodies for you, including an interview with
^5Francois Lionet, not an interview done for another publication, but
^5an exclusive for Totally Amos, taped by our roving reporter Mike
^5Tilley at the World Of Commodore show!!
^4 We have a look at Easy Amos, the new version of Amos aimed at people
^4who are learning to program and tell you which parts of it will be in
^4Amos 2 which comes out soon.
^6 Europress have donated a copy of the Amos 3-D package as a prize
^6this month, and also copies of Fun School 4 for the kids.
^7 There weren't many entries for the competitions set in Issue 1,
^7why??? Come on, try your luck this time!
^1 There are more contributions from readers this time, both our
^1previous Spotlight programmers have sent disks in, Ben Ashley sent
^1some reviews and an article on protecting your programs, and Luke
^1Miller sent a disk full of music which will be featured over the next
^1few issues.
^2 We set out to cater for all ages in this magazine and we do have
^2readers ranging from 14 to retired, it's great to see that AMOS
^2reaches the ages that other programs cann't! So far we have readers
^2in USA, Canada, Italy, France and Germany as well as all corners of
^2the UK.
^4 Please feel free to join in the debate about the pirating of Déjà Vu
^4Licensed Software, Sandra puts forward her views in Sandra's Space,
^4and we put forward our feelings after what she says. We would like
^4to know the views of the people out there.
^6 This issue has plenty of program files on disk for you to play with
^6as well as an alternative file requestor to replace the standard Amos
^6offering.
^7 A new feature this time is the adding of a QUICKIE INDEX. this lets
^7you see at a glance what you'll find on the disk. Thanks to Dicon
^7Peeke for the suggestion.
^2 As it's the silly season, we've put in a section that you can refer
^2to when you're programming has tied you up in a knot and you cann't
^2find the way out of your problems. This part of T.A. is the only
^2thing that hasn't much to do with AMOS, any (clean) contributions
^2welcome.
^1 There are plenty of new programs in the Déjà Vu Library to delight
^1you, both on P.D. and Licenseware, see the `What's New'sections and
^1also reviews for more details.
^4 We've taken a look at Fun School 4, all sections, it's the best of
^4the series so far. Has anyone else tried one of these programs? If
^4so, let us know what you think. We'd like your reviews on other Amos
^4programs as well.
^2 If you've read the February Issue of AMIGA SHOPPER, you will see
^2that Phil South has given us a very nice write up, we're already
^2getting responses fron his article, hopefully we'll get lots of new
^2members who will give us lots more to write about! Thanks Phil!
^1 We apologise for this issue being a bit late, but Christmas got in
^1the way! Looking forward to seeing you again in March also looking
^1forward to hearing from you, whether it is in the form of
^1contributions to the magazine or entries for the competitions.
^2Best wishes, Anne & Len Tucker.
