^6 Formula One Challenge is a management game based on the grand prix
^6championship. When you first load the disk you come to an options
^6screen. From here you can play the game, look at the instructions or
^6memory low instructions.
^1 Its a good idea to look at the instructions and note down the tables
^1it has in it,such as the tyre tables as you will need them. When
^1playing the game you're asked if you want to play a saved game. If
^1you select no, you will then be asked to enter the amount of players
^1(up to 4 can play) and manager(s) names.
^2 Next you choose the skill level (it's best to start off on poor),
^2then you are asked which team (e.g:-Mclaren, Ferrari etc), engine,
^2tyres and driver you want (when buying your engine, tyres and
^2driver(s), make sure you don't spend over 1 million pounds or you
^2will be sacked).
^7 Now you have your team, you go on to the main screen. As well as
^7being able to look at a wide range of statistics e.g:-career wins,
^7pole positions, best pitstop tables and career points, you can sort
^7out your team for the next race.
^6 You can find out what tyres you will need by looking at a weather
^6report, which type of suspension you need by examining the racetrack
^6details.You should also fill your engine with petrol and fill up your
^6pitcrews skills.
^1 Once this is done you should be ready for the next race so, click
^1the mouse and off into the qualifiers race you go. If you find your
^1driver(s) in the following list of 26 drivers you have qualified for
^1the race, if not, don't worry, you will still have a chance in the
^1next race.
^2 Now off to the actual race. On this screen the drivers are listed in
^2their qualifying positions. You will also see which lap the drivers
^2are on, each lap the positions table is updated showing the leaders
^2time and how far behind the other drivers are.
^7 During the race a number of things could happen to any driver, such
^7as brake faliure, engine faliure, crashes where the driver retires or
^7rejoins the race, spins can also happen especially with the wrong
^7choice of tyres. During the race you may check up on your driver(s)
^7by keeping the left mousebutton depressed. Once you do this the race
^7freezes and you are given information about the present weather
^7conditions, the amount of tyre wear and tyre grip left on your
^7wheels. It's recommended that you shouldn't let the tyre grip fall
^7below 70%.
^6 If your sure you want to make a pit stop click on REQUEST PITSTOP.
^6Now you must choose the type of tyre you want and now comes the
^6reflexes bit. All of a sudden a massive tyre, the size of the screen
^6comes up, you have got to get the mouse pointer into the centre of
^6the wheel and press the left mouse button to stop the pitstop timer.
^6However, if you miss the tyre centre you will hear a higher tone
^6telling you that you've connected the nut on wrongly. You will now
^6have to press the mouse button again to take the nut back off, then
^6press again to try again. When you finally get it right you are
^6taken back to the race screen and you will see your official pitstop
^6time.
^2 At the end of the race, the top 6 drivers (marked in a different
^2colour) get points. The higher up the leaderboard you go the more
^2cash you will earn. You then see the updated championship tables and
^2then its off to the MAIN OPTIONS SCREEN to get ready for the next
^2race.
^7The only problem I found was when I was trying to load/save the game
^7and I was not used to the AMOS file selector. First of all format a
^7disk and name it, (default name of empty will do). When you wish to
^7load/save press the load/save button, wait until the disk drive has
^7finished its activity, put in your formatted disk, click on the file
^7name (game1.fo) with the right mouse button, and you will see the
^7name of the disk in the direcory. Click on this, type in a name for
^7your game, press return, and hey presto, your game is saved. To load
^7put your disk in, click on the disk name, and you will see a listing
^7of your saved game. Click on the one you wish to play and continue
^7your saved game.
^1 In my view, this game is easy to use with a lot of addiction in it,
^1and is well worth the money (ONLY £3.50p). S. Rennocks should be
^1proud of himself.
