  9. On Monday, February 21st, 1994, at 1800 hours,
  10. the MI ML (Maison Ikkoku Mailing List) was activated.
  11. It sometimes gets 10 messages per day.
  12. Other times, it can be very quiet.
  13. As of October 1997, there were over 250 subscribers.
  14.  
  15. If you want to subscribe or UNSUBSCRIBE, you should send your
  16. e-mail address and full name to Glenn Tarigan <tarigan@sfu.ca>.
  17. Here are some typical administration-related messages you can send:
  18.  1) "unsubscribe MI ML. <insert@your.address.here>  firstname lastname"
  19.  2) "subscribe MI ML. <insert@your.address.here>  firstname lastname"
  20.  3) "change MI ML subscription address: <old@address> --> <new@address>"

  22. Please keep spam out of the mailing list.
  23. The MI ML is to be used for:
  24.    - synopses
  25.    - discussion about the story
  26.    - comments about related merchandise
  27.    - and Maison Ikkoku topics that aren't about translation
  28.      (a separate list is used for translations-- see further below)

  32. A. Posting:
  33.   To post a message in this mailing list, send it to this
  34.   address: <maison-ikkoku@sfu.ca>.
  35.  
  36.   In every message you post, I *strongly* recommend that you put
  37.     [MI]  or  =MI=
  38.   at the beginning of your subject header. For people who
  39.   receive hundreds of e-mails a day, such an identifier
  40.   makes it easier to recognize which messages are from this
  41.   mailing list and are therefore worth reading (or incinerating).
  42.  
  43.   Whenever someone posts a message in this mailing list,
  44.   the server mails a copy of the message to every
  45.   subscriber, *except* for the person who posted the message.
  46.   If you want a copy of your message, then "CC" it to yourself.
  47.  
  48.   Also note that it may take several hours for the
  49.   server to process your mail and send it out.
  50.  
  51. B. Replying:
  52.   This mailing list does not set the "Reply-To"
  53.   field to itself.  If you don't change the address to
  54.   <maison-ikkoku@sfu.ca> then the only the person who'll
  55.   receive your message is the sender of the original post.

  57.   Here are some ways to send your replies to the mailing list:
  58.  
  59.     i) Read the message, and then send your reply
  60.        as a NEW message to the mailing list. That
  61.        probably means you will have to manually re-type
  62.        the subject header and the mailing list address.
  63.  
  64.    ii) Use the "Reply" function AND send a cc (carbon copy)
  65.        to the mailing list. I assume most e-mail programs
  66.        have a "carbon copy" feature that can send a
  67.        duplicate of your message to a secondary address.

  73. Then it died for a few months in 1996.  The current incarnation
