  3. First off, we apologize for the large download again. The good news is that
  4. we've modified our auto-updating system  so that you won't have to download
  5. the full eight megabytes again. Subsequent updates will be handled through
  6. merely logging in and letting our server update Tanarus for you.

  8. Now on to the primary fixes...
  9.  
  10. Direct 3D Performance: We've further optimized Tanarus with Direct 3D. You
  11. should be receiving a noticably higher frame rate than in the last version.
  12. Equally important is to make sure that you have the latest drivers for
  13. your graphic accelerator card. Visit our Tanarus webpage at www.tanarus.com
  14. and click on Technical FAQ then select Supported Direct 3D cards. This lists
  15. all cards that we've tested along with the latest drivers and the
  16. respective links to these drivers.

  18. CH Flighstick Pro Hat Fix: The CH Flightstick Pro jostick driver that comes
  19. with Windows 95 simply doesn't work well. What this resulted in was the hat
  20. acting as a trigger for guns and other quirks. While we've added the ability
  21. to use the hat, we advise using the CH F16 Combat Stick's driver.
  22. To get this driver, go to our Tanarus webpage at www.tanarus.com, click on
  23. Technical FAQ, then click on Supported Joysticks. Here you'll find a direct
  24. link to to the CH drivers at http://www.chproducts.com/support.html.  Download
  25. the file called: Windows 95 Drivers for Combat Stick, Virtual Pilot Pro, and
  26. Gamestick14 (the size of this file should read 158k). Extract this file into a
  27. directory and run it. Select F16 Combat Stick as your joystick type. Now go
  28. into your Control Panel and open Gaming Devices. Click on Add and select
  29. the F16 Combat Stick as your primary joystick.

  31. Microsoft Sidewinder Pro: If you're having a problem with the Sidewinder Pro,
  32. make sure you have Microsoft's latest Gaming Device Manager 1.5. To get this,
  33. go to our Tanarus webpage at www.tanarus.com, click on Technical FAQ, then
  34. click on Supported Joysticks. A direct link to the Gaming Device Manager 1.5
  35. can be found here.

  37. No Sound Card: Those of you without sound cards (presumably playing from
  38. work :) can now -- well -- play. We squashed the bug that wasn't allowing
  39. computers without soundcards to play. Enjoy.

  41. Downloading Arenas: If you're getting tired of waiting for each Arena to
  42. download when you enter a fresh city, we've put up a six megabyte zipped file
  43. with all the Arenas that Tanarus currently uses at our Tanarus webpage:
  44. www.tanarus.com. Simply click on the Arena File option, download it, and then
  45. UNZIP it directly into your Tanarus directory and you're ready to get your
  46. treads rolling.

  49. putting in long hours (as always) to make the game as fun and stable as
  50. possible. We're still in the process of working on further optimizing the
  51. network code, so be expecting small updates for the time being.
