  4. Search terms in a query are processed linguistically in a way
  5. that is consistent with the linguistic processing that is applied to
  6. the text of a document when a document is indexed.
  7. A user has the possibility to :

  9.  1. Specify the language of a search term
  10.  
  11. The language to be used for linguistic processing of a search term can
  12. be selected by a user.  The possibility to select a special language
  13. depends on the installation of the corresponding dictionary.
  14. Multilingual queries are supported.
  15.  
  16.  2. Specify 'Inflected forms' for a search term
  17.  
  18. Depending on the index type the user has the choice to include
  19. any inflections of the search term in the search.

  21.  3. Select synonyms for a search term
  22.  
  23. A user may enhance a query by including synonyms for a search term.
  24. New synonyms can be added for use with the current query.  Each user may
  25. have his own synonym dictionary and add permanently applicable synonyms.

  27.  4. Use a Thesaurus to help compose a query
  28.  
  29. Optionally, an exit into a Thesaurus Management System confirming
  30. to current standards (ANSI Z3919-1590) will be provided.
  31. It allows browsing for search terms and comfortable query composition.
