  31.   Disc Operating System (DOS 3.1 or higher version).
  32.   A hard-disc drive.
  33.   A Mouse.
  34.   A Virtual Graphics Array colour card (VGA) with minimum 256k ram.
  35.   A colour monitor.
  36.   A 286 processor.
  37.   A 1.4 meg floppy 3.5 inch drive.

  39.   Required for increased performance but NOT CRITICAL:-

  41.   Additional Random Access Memory (RAM) 2 megabytes.
  42.   Additional RAM memory management software.
  43.   Hard-disc cache and associated software.
  44.   A 386 or faster processor.
  45.   A Maths co-processor.

  50.   Installation:-

  52.   Note: You will need about 6.0 meg of hard disc space to install, and
  53.         around 4.5 meg to run the software.

  55.   Insert Disc 1 into floppy drive unit.
  56.   Log onto floppy drive.
  57.   Enter: INSTALL {todrive} {fromdrive}
  58.  
  59.          ... where {todrive} is replaced by the drive designation letter
  60.          of the hard disc where software is to be installed, and 
  61.          {fromdrive} is the designation of the floppy disc drive.

  69.   Note: If you already have VERSION 1.0 installed in the Mscope directory
  70.         you will be prompted to answer Yes or No to over-writing some of
  71.         the files. You should answer YES! After Installation, you should
  72.         still be able to run version 1.0 or version 2.0 because both 
  73.         versions share some of the new files.

  76.   Running the Software:-
  77.   ======================
  78.   Log onto the directory where Microscope is installed - normally 
  79.   the \MSCOPE directory.
  80.  
  81.   Enter: MSCOPE2
  82.  
  83.   Note: If running the software on a fairly old machine with low 
  84.         specifications, the use of a command line switch may improve
  85.         animation speed. To accelerate speed, invoke Microscope by
  86.         entering: MSCOPE2 /A

  91.   Failure to run
  92.   ==============
  93.  
  94.   On PCs with 640k ram and no extented or expanded memory, Microscope 
  95.   version 2.0 tales up a lot of memory from the 640k available. There 
  96.   is sufficient room left for DOS, system drivers, buffers, etc. but 
  97.   not a lot else. If the software fails to run and presents any failure
  98.   message regarding "out of string space" or "out of memory" then it 
  99.   may be due to other TSR's being present in memory. Attempt to unload
  100.   any other programs to clear the 640k memory area and then retry.
  101.  
  102.   The buffers and files reservations in your config.sys may also need
  103.   to be reduced if a problem still exists. The program has been run on
  104.   640k machines with no extra memory, DOS 6 in conventional memory, 
  105.   all sys drivers in conventional memory including keyboard, screen,
  106.   and mouse drivers, and with files set to 30 - buffers set to 15, 
  107.   and runs okay; both straight from DOS and in a DOS session from 
  108.   Windows.

  110.   About 60k of conventional memory is left spare when running in this
  111.   set up. Microscope has not be run stacked with the DOS disc compression
  112.   software and the author would advise against trying to run Microscope
  113.   stacked. The author would discourage the use of stacking files anyway
  114.   using this type of compression. With the growing capability of hard 
  115.   disc size and cheaper prices, it is better to invest in a larger 
  116.   capacity hard disc.

  120.   Running on 286, 386, 486 machines.
  121.   ==================================
  122.   Button responses and feel of the software will vary according to 
  123.   processor speed. Use the CFG button available on Microscope's
  124.   main screen to adust (quite simply) the overall response to match
  125.   your set up. Increase button response time to normal or slow on 
  126.   fast machines and decrease response to fast or rapid on slow machines.
  127.   The CFG options are automatically saved and will come into effect
  128.   immediately.

  132.   Getting Help and learning how to use software:-
  133.   ===============================================
  134.   Help is supplied by auto or manually displayed comprehensive help
  135.   text screens. Their use is re-configurable when running Microscope.
  136.  
  137.   A comprehensive electronic manual is included. This file, called 
  138.   MANUAL2.ASC, can be read, re-formatted, and printed using your 
  139.   preferred text editor. The file can be viewed by utilising the 
  140.   DOS command called TYPE - please see your DOS manual.

  142.   A Tutorial program to get you started is included. You are offered 
  143.   the choice to access this each time you run Microscope. We 
  144.   recommend you use this for 5 minutes before attempting to use 
  145.   Microscope main software.

  152.   Originally released as version 1.0 in September 1993
  153.   (Good record of performance on various PCs in diffeent countries but
  154.    user interface was keyboard controlled only!)

  158.   (Bug discovered by SHAREWARE ELITE in England in the program when 
  159.    restoring from help screen. Screen messes up on some types of 
  160.    VGA cards).

  164.   (To overcome bug in serial 301094).
  165.   Version 2.0 has been seriously upgraded to become a mouse driven 
  166.   comprehensive software package with more powerful features inc.

  168.   and United Kingdom with local country Retail or direct purchase

  176.   You are free to use and evaluate this software without charge for 
  177.   30 days (1 month). You may copy it to friends, bulletin boards, 
  178.   install it on any PC at home or professional or business or 
  179.   educational environments. You must not alter any files. You must 
  180.   only copy the software intact. You must not charge others for copying
  181.   the software to them, except for nominal disc costs and minor 
  182.   charges if you are operating as a disc vendor!

  346.   scope, images, and tutorial text. They cover a wide range of subjects

  371.   In the last two decades the Information Technology revolution has changed
