  3. This file has three main sections: 
  4. 1)  What is Sheet Layout? 
  5. 2)  System Requirements

  8. What is Sheet Layout? 
  9.  
  10. Sheet Layout (SL) is a program that takes raw material and  
  11. illustrates how to cut it down into smaller pieces.  SL is  
  12. used with rectangular sheets of material such as plywood,  
  13. plastic, foam, fabrics, glass, steel, or just about any  
  14. other flat stock material.   
  15.  
  16. SL optimizes the layouts taking into consideration user  
  17. input cutting parameters such as, cutting preferences, grain  
  18. direction, saw kerf and many others.  It literally  
  19. considers 10,000's of combinations prior to determining  
  20. the optimized layout.

  22. System Requirements: 
  23.  
  24. (1) DOS 3.3 or greater 
  25. (2) Less than 640K RAM 
  26. (3) Less than 1 MB Disk Space 
  27. (4) Files = 10 and Buffers = 10 are minimum requirements for                                  
  28. complete operation of the program and all help files.  
  29. (5) A math co-processor is highly recommended but NOT  
  30. required.

  35. Congratulations.  Sheet Layout (SL) is a state of the art  
  36. material optimization system. It has been developed during  
  37. the last seven years to its present form. It will save you a  
  38. lot of time and money.  It increases productivity by saving  
  39. most of the time you spend calculating part layouts  
  40. manually.  What once took hours now only takes Sheet Layout  
  41. and minutes. 
  42.   
  43. SL is distributed as Shareware.  Simply stated, the  
  44. Shareware concept permits trying the product to determine if  
  45. it meets your end use requirements prior to paying for the  
  46. product.  There is no warranty offered and I assume  
  47. absolutely no liability for its use.  Your continued use of  
  48. the product and your voluntary registration of the product  
  49. is verification that you have tried the product and find it  
  50. to meet your requirements.   
  51.   
  52. Having said that, my goal is to achieve a high level of  
  53. customer satisfaction.  The first step is to offer a quality  
  54. product at a substantially lower price than comparable  
  55. commercial products. About the only sacrifice you make is  
  56. giving up phone support during normal working hours.  
  57. However, after using Sheet Layout for 30 minutes or so,  
  58. you'll probably note that phone support really isn't  
  59. necessary. 
  60.  
  61. Three (3) registered versions of SL are offered to match the  
  62. needs and budgets of individuals and corporations.  All  
  63. three registered versions are exactly the same with the  
  64. exception of the capacity of the optimization program.  In  
  65. addition to capacity restrictions, the evaluation copy also  
  66. has grain direction control disabled.

  68. The capacity of SL is measured by the number different part  
  69. sizes and the quantity for each size that you can enter for  
  70. any particular job. The user interface has no limitations,  
  71. that is, you can enter any number of parts/sizes.  However,  
  72. at optimization run time, any values exceeding the  
  73. parameters of the version which you have will be "clipped"  
  74. to the maximum allowable quantities for your registered  
  75. version.  No warnings that part or quantity clipping has  
  76. taken place are made to the user. See the Program Update  
  77. screen available from the Main Menu for more details.
