  16. MODEL: TM-455A
  17. SUBJECT: Change in Pin Diode
  18.  
  19. Symptom: Some early versions of the TM-455A/E have been discovered with a 
  20. bad solder connection at the final module pin diode, D601. If the impedance 
  21. of this device is too low, the power consumption for this device goes up. 
  22. This increased power consumption might cause excessive heating of the solder
  23. connections, and may result in a failure of the connection(s) after long 
  24. FM transmissions.

  26. Countermeasure: On the TX/RX Unit (X57-4510-00 C/5) replace the following:

  28. Change Diode D601 to a UM9401, 
  29. Change R606 to 100 ohms
  30. Change C623 to 5 pF
  31. Change C624 to 12 pf
  32.  
  33. After replacing these parts, readjust the NULL and Protection circuit using 
  34. the procedures provided in the Service Manual.
