  17. SUBJECT: ANT INPUT TRANSFORMER REPLACEMENT

  19.      TS-120S Ant Input Transformer Replacement: New Part
  20.      Supercedes bulletin 7/12/79
  21.      
  22.      Transceivers subject to strong static fields, high RF, or
  23.      similar high current atmospheric discharges may suddenly
  24.      exhibit low sensitivity on all bands. TX will not be affected.
  25.      Suspect T1 on the RF unit, X44-1260-01.
  26.      
  27.      When replacing T1, L43,0696-35, check that the value of C20 is
  28.      33pf. Early units may have a l5pf for C20, and may have T1 as
  29.      L43-0696-05. In either case, replace the transformer with an
  30.      L34-0929-15. If C20 is 15pf, replace it with a 33pf capacitor.
  31.      Since T1 is a broadband transformer, no adjustment is necessary.

  33.      In addition, add two lS1587 diodes after the transformer as
  34.      shown to further protect the receiver.

  36.      Installation time for this procedure is approximately 1/2 hour.
