  23. As  promised in the previous issue, this article is gonna be the steady element
  24. of each release.  The general idea is to support  Atarians  who keep our  scene 
  25. alive e.g. demo-coders, game-creators, disk-mag editors etc.

  32. Sqward is going to code the new outstanding tracker for Atari systems! It could
  33. be something like "FastTracker" for Atari machines.  Features? Working as a GEM
  34. application, including the possibility to write your own plugins  (e.g. drivers 
  35. for Atari  computers with various  sound-cards),  32chn or more (depends if you 
  36. own any turbo-cards), finally GOOD *.XM replayer (twice as good as the  Graoumf 
  37. one) which doesn't  exist atm.  If Sqward decides to  make this a  reality it's 
  38. gonna be a SHAREWARE product. I think it could be REALLY worth it to  register! 
  39. Sqward says it could easily  beat Fastracker on  the PC! More  features, superb 
  40. interface, correct XM replayer, possibility to create *.XM tracks on Atari etc.

  42. Don't waste this chance  to make it a reality and  impress your PC friends! All 
  43. that Sqward needs  is FEEDBACK. Don't ignore this  word. He needs more than one
  44. person who would like to  see this as a product. If there isn't be any interest
  45.  - Sqward will simply skip this project!

  54. Atari XL/XE was a VERY popular machine  in Poland for many years.  So there was
  55. no  surprise that  most of the new  software has been released in this country.  
  56. When 8-bit Atari was dying in most of the European countries  back in the 90's,
  57. in Poland it was gaining power. More and more software publishers appeared just
  58. like: LK Avalon, ASF, Sonix, Spectra, StanBit, Mirage, Krysal or Sikor soft. We
  59. witnessed Atari's back in most computer shops, which offered more  and more new 
  60. games for this  machine!  Many mags dedicated  to gamers have  started to write 
  61. again  about the  "new wave of Atari games"  in the middle of 90's!  Games were 
  62. selling quite well even if piracy at the time was legal in Poland. But suddenly
  63. the amount of new games for this machine  stated to slow and only the strongest
  64. one publishers survived: LK Avalon and Mirage. The single new games came up and
  65. that was the death-kiss of commercial games for Atari. Strangely enough some of
  66. these publishers tried their luck in releasing games for other systems,like the
  67. C-64 for example and... failed.

  69. Now we have 2001 year and... guess what? One of  these publishers  thinks about
  70. trying to  get back in the  XL/XE  market  with new games! It's SIKOR SOFT from  
  71. Warsaw/POLAND known for a couple  of commercial titles for  XL/XE  series, e.g.
  72. 5x5, Sexy Six, Neuroid,  ABC etc.. Piot  Sikorski, the chief of this firm said:

  74.   "Currently SIKOR SOFT activity is hanged. Anyway we still have all the 
  75.    software which was published for Atari XL/XE by ourselves. We do plan
  76.    to back on the XL/XE market, however the interest of Atarist is simply
  77.    too low at the moment".

  79. What can I say? If you have an 8-bit Atari and you would like  to see some new 
  80. games for your machine, don't wait but write a mail to Sikor Soft to show your
  81. interest!
