Grey's note: <link=g39.scr>ST-Computer</l> is a full-color German magazine dedicated to the
Atari platform. Although it's content is in German, several
people in North America and other non-German regions of the
world subscribe (e.g. polish Atarians); it is an interesting
magazine for any current Atari Fan - regardless of what
language you speak. To enquire about a subscription, e-mail
the Editor of STC:

ST-computer is currently recruiting new authors. They search
for writers with experience with Fun Media, Mountain, and
Internet Radio using FalcAmp. Once again, contact the Editor

ST-Computer...... I'm sure you know the magazine or at least you've heard about
it. But first a few words for new Atari users, who have not ever heard about it
ST-Computer is the only printed (and very well printed) Atari magazine in the
world and it's more then 10 years old. All new issue you can get every month,
but you can't buy it anywhere, only in subscription. The main writer's name is
Thomas Raukamp. He was also resposible for AmigaOS magazine, but now he's
completly focused on ST-Computers. The main editorial staff lives in or near
Kiel in Germany, so the magazine is made specially for german speaking Atari
users. But there are also other people that work on it (for example me - and I
live in Poland).
Ok... Now let's talk about the edition I've got: 04'2001.
As always there are some short articles about news in the Atari world (like
ParadiseWeb Browser, Papyrus 9 etc.). But the main part of the 04-th issue is
concentrated on HTML creation. You can read 4 articles about it (En Vogue, some
usefull tools for HTML editing, GEMtidy, HTML-Help2) and a special report about
Paradise Browser. They describe all aspects of using this software, with
pictures, descriptions etc. There is also an interessting article 'Step by Step
(you can find it in almost all issues of STC). This time Thomas describes how
to connect to the internet using IConnect for MagiC. I know, I know..... But
remeber, STC is not only for profis, but also for newbees with MagiC on their
HD :-) It's a pretty long, full of details and screenshots article. Reading it
you can almost connect to the intenet not having MagiC and IConnect ;-) It's
just a briliant job. Also an interesting article is 'MIDI von Anfang an' ('MIDI
from the beginning') by prof. Herbert Walz. I read it and I must say it's
interesting even if you don't use your machine for MIDI stuff :-) In last 3
issues there was also an interesting series of articles about MiNTNet.
Marc-Anton Kehr descibed very preciously how to install MiNTNet, how to connect
and how to solve the basic problems. I think in the near future, there will be
a always one or even more articles focused on MiNT/MiNTNet.
hmm... what else? There are also other very interesting articles, but it's hard
to say which one is the best or the most interesting. It depends on you, you
have to choose which one is made for you. Here is the list of articles:
Always up-to-date, Synth News, Open systems, Tipps & tricks, CeBit 2001,
ParadiseBrowser, En Vogue, HTML Tools, Portfolio Compact flash, MIDI...,
PhotoTip 3, HTML-Help2, GEMtidy, Scene Report.
The only thing I can say is that ST-Computer is worth the 10DM it costs, you'll
always find something interessting... I'm sure of that.
