BEING INFECTED BY STRANGE VIRUS
by Grey / Mystic Bytes
------------------------------------------------- --- ---- ---- ------ --- ---
All of You surely know the most active bulletin - board for Atarians is hosted
by Dead Hackers Society. It's probably the only place where that many people
of our community come together. Sometimes it's a very useful place to find
someone to help You out, it doesn't matter if it's about coding, painting,
composing or anything else..... Sounds pretty good..... apart from the
few people with strange attitudes who are able to stick to the senseless
subject and continue writing craps. What's the effect of this? People simply
lose motivation and faith in the Atari scene.
Do You remember the chat about showing <link=g31a.scr>C-64</l> demos at EIL for a few hours?
Gosh. Paranoid got a great idea to bring a video-tape with recorded commy
demos but he probably didn't expect the emotions this could cause. So he
posted his msg on the DHS bulletin-board. There were a couple of blokes who
seemed to like this idea (e.g. CiH, ST Survivor, 505, Mc Laser, Swe and me)
but as usual there HAD TO BE someone who disagreed. And there's nothing wrong
in that if such a person can defend his arguments. But sometimes I have a
feeling there is always someone who writes craps so maybe we should get used
to it? NOT! Just help me to understand what the hell is wrong in showing
C-64 demos at Atari party?! I won't mention a name of one guy from Germany
who really got RED in the face seeing as someone mentioned C-64 at all! The
message he posted made a strange picture of him. You could get the impression
that we don't care about Atari s cene and we are traitors 'coz we do C-64
propaganda at the DHS www-site. WOW.
And just take a look... We only wanted to SEE 2 (TWO) HOURS of commy demos
during the night. We aren't Atarians!!
C-64 is NOT the PC, it's the alternative system as the Atari is. But some
people seem to be infected by "C-64 vs Atari" virus. Now, when PC is flooding
the world to the edges there is a war between small scenes like ours. Have
You ever seen the C-64 pictures? This machine has it's limits but graphicians
from this scene make unbelievable <link=g31b.scr>pictures</l> which (let's say it honestly) beats
a lot of works drawn by our own artists.
This kind of attitude has a deeper sense. I hope that no-one from the C-64
scene reads such senseless messages at this bulletin - board. It paints a
strange picture of us, people who still live in hate, who think that there
is no difference between PC and C-64 for example.. and that Atarians are
fuckin' arrogant.
Damn, we ARE NOT CAVEMEN!! We should be in touch with other alternative scenes
We could learn a lot from them as well as they could from us! So what, do we
have to close ourselves in the little world where no-one join?! It looks
pretty dull in my eyes!!!!
This guy who complained about showing C-64 demos at EIL was placed in the room
where video-beamer was set. When Paranoid and organisers started to show C-64
demos at EIL this guy left his room and stood far away at the corridor till
the end of this show...
I find no words. I am simply ASHAMED (again!).
