  7.  Performance:
  8.        HD Series Hard Drives are 
  9. designed to be the fastest mass- 
  10. storage peripherals available for the 
  11. C=64 and C=128. When connected on the 
  12. serial bus to a completely stock 
  13. computer, HD Series drives out perform 
  14. all other serial bus drives (including 
  15. the 1581) by a wide margin. If your 
  16. computer is equipped with JiffyDOS, 
  17. performance in 128 mode is nearly 
  18. doubled, with performance in 64 mode 
  19. (or with a C=64) being brought up to 
  20. the same level. And, when connected to 
  21. the parallel port of CMD's RAMLink, HD 
  22. Series drives become as fast as the 
  23. hard drives found on newer, more 
  24. expensive machines.

  26.  Compatibiity:
  27.        A specially-designed operating 
  28. system (DOS) gives HD Series drives 
  29. the ability to work with nearly all 
  30. commercial software. The HD Series DOS 
  31. fully supports all Commodore DOS 
  32. commands, including Block Reads and 
  33. Writes, Memory access commands, and 
  34. Fast Serial 'burst' commands. Special 
  35. operating modes are also built in to 
  36. provide complete compatibility with 
  37. GEOS and CP/M. Another feature of the 
  38. HD Series operating system is that it 
  39. is stored on the hard drive itself and 
  40. not it ROM. This means that DOS 
  41. upgrades can be installed quickly and 
  42. easily without disassembly.

  44.  Ease of Use:
  45.        The HD Series DOS provides you 
  46. with the tools to easily organize and 
  47. access the large amounts of data you 
  48. will be storing. Partitions of up to 
  49. 16 Megabytes are supported and can be 
  50. set aside exclusively for GEOS or CP/M 
  51. use, if desired. Subdirectories can be 
  52. created within partitions and within 
  53. other subdirectories. The number and 
  54. size of subdirectories is limited only 
  55. by the available space on the drive. 
  56. Any directory can be the default, and 
  57. the path to a file anywhere on the 
  58. drive can be specified within a single 
  59. command. In addition, files can be 
  60. easily copied between different 
  61. partitions and subdirectories.

  65. able to piece together in phone
  66. conversations with CMD!

  68.   We all know that the drives size is
  69. only a little longer than a 1581 and it
  70. uses a 3 1/2 inch disk. And it's for 
  71. the C=64 and C=128, also fully 
  72. supports GEOS and CP/M! Right?
  73.  
  74.  Well lets see if i can say something 
  75. here that we don't know.

  77.   The drive itself can be modified to 
  78. 100 megs in the single case and up
  79. to 4 GIGABYTE's otherwise!!  Works
  80. just like a 1581 and can be 
  81. partitioned the same way, hooks to the 
  82. serial port so you can still piggyback 
  83. other drives, use's a parallel 
  84. interface through RAMLink (more on 
  85. RAMLink later) that speeds the drive up
  86. considerably, fully supports JiffyDOS, 
  87. so if you have JiffyDOS in your 
  88. computer you will have that speed 
  89. added to the drive. It also can be 
  90. interfaced with Amiga, IBM-compatible 
  91. and Macintosh computers incase you 
  92. plan to upgrade in the future you can 
  93. still use the hard drive..
