It is held at the NESCONSET¢ BRANCH OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY. It¢ should be very interesting.¢¢¢ ANNUAL DINNER:¢ We discussed when and where we¢ should hold our annual dinner affair.¢ ALLEN ATKINS and ALEX were on the¢ committee. ALEX was able to get a¢ good deal at a friends restaurant¢ called CAFE 20 SOUTH. We will have¢ our annual affair there on Wednesday¢ February 19 at 7PM. The address is¢ 1084 Grand Ave. It is in Baldwin¢ right off and south of the SOUTHERN¢ STATE PARK WAY Exit #20.¢¢¢ COMMITTEE REPORTS:¢¢ The NOMINATING COMMITTEE¢ recommended that all present officers¢ of the club stand for re-election.¢ All present officers agreed to run¢ for re-election. There s a¢ wealth of info in those newsletters.¢¢ From FRANTIC - THE ALAMO ATARI¢ CLUB. MIKE dont get a¢ swell head, but you sure look great¢ in that Petty Officer sailors¢ uniform!¢¢ We received a letter from¢ HADJILA NASSERDDINE in Algeria. He is¢ looking for a book on Assembly¢ Language programming and also disk on¢ that subject. He has a 65XE computer.¢ ALAN SHARKIS was appointed to contact¢ HADJILA.¢¢ A letter to SAM COREY. SAM has¢ been MOST HELPFUL in building up our¢ PD library. A hint to¢ all OL' H people.....Get those disks,¢ they are very interesting and very¢ well done, definitely worth having.¢ They are in the LIBRARY.¢¢ A letter from TOM ANDREWS. TOM¢ tells us that KEN WICKERT of ACE OF¢ SYRACUSE the 8-Bit editor is now the¢ ST EDITOR. TOM ANDREWS wrote a very¢ nice review on SIGN MAKER in the¢ JAN/FEB 1992 of their newsletter. It¢ is a very interesting article. If you¢ get a chance you should read it. It¢ works with Print Shop Icons. TOM is¢ working on an update on PRINTSTAR and¢ REFORMAT. We can't wait to see this¢ baby!¢ SX212 MODEM TIP, from TOM. "If¢ you are using an 850 interface or a¢ PR CONNECTION interface you should¢ connect the modem to that rather than¢ in the daisy chain. If you are in a¢ daisy chain setup and you want to¢ abort the operation sometimes the¢ modem does not hang up. When you use¢ an 850 or a PR CONNECTION this does¢ not happen because the modem driver¢ is loaded from the interface. If you¢ are in a daisy chain set up and the¢ modem does not hang up HIT RETURN and¢ then the ABORT KEY again. This will¢ do it!" This tip is ve ry welcome,¢ TOM. BOB TERM version 1.22 will also¢ fix this problem.¢ Tom also sent us a copy of P.S.¢ Labels (Print Shop Utility Disk). He¢ fixed the problem so now it will work¢ correctly with a mailing list. The¢ program was not issuing enough line¢ feeds between the labels. If you have¢ a problem "add another ? #C2 to the¢ beginning of line 3740".¢¢ A letter from NIEK VANDERLEE¢ wishes all the members a Merry¢ Christmas and a Happy New Year. He¢ went to Holland on vacation. He said¢ there was very little 8-Bit Atari¢ stuff. [Ed. The treasurer¢ was instructed to send a letter and a¢ donation of $10.00. We also hope he¢ continous his good work. ¢¢ A letter to HACE the Houston¢ Atari Club to Harold Gaily. ALEX¢ asked for the docs of PICPRINT¢ HIGHLIGHTS and PICRDEMO.ARC. It turns¢ out it is not a program but a demo¢ disk.¢¢ A letter to TOM HUNT by ALEX.¢ ALEX has used SNAPSHOT and he asked¢ TOM if he had an upgrade available.¢ TOM has also worked on TURBO BASIC¢ and many other programs. We sent TOM¢ a copy of our DISK MANAGEMENT¢ SYSTEM.¢¢¢ DEMO's:¢¢ RON FETZER demoed Ver.2.0 of the¢ DISK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. RON added¢ another program to Disk #1 called¢ TITLE LABELS. This program will print¢ a 3 line title label for a disk that¢ is on one subject or is a copy of a¢ commercial program. RON felt that¢ this would be more informative than¢ listing all the files. This program¢ can also print address labels. Disk¢ #2 of the program was not changed.¢ The W.A.N.D. of the Westchester¢ Atari Group devoted the entire¢ January issue to disk maintenance and¢ cataloging. Dr. ROLAND HERMAN the¢ editor and president of the club¢ devoted 4 pages to the DISK¢ MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. Thank you¢ WESTCHESTER ATARI CLUB. Dr. ROLAND¢ HERMAN tried out the DISK¢ MANAGEMENT SYSTEM and he recommends¢ it.¢¢ AL ATKINS demoed a great combo of¢ TOM ANDREWS printing utility using¢ PRINTSTAR and COL40. AL made up a¢ great disk of the two, and¢ distributed one to each member of the¢ club. You now can print out any kind¢ of text material in 2 or 3 columns¢ using this program. Instead of going¢ through 19 steps we now can do it in¢ only 5 steps thanks to AL ATKINS, and¢ TOM ANDREWS.¢¢ ALEX demonstrated the new¢ BELLCOM menu. It has many great¢ features that you may want. They are¢ on the JAN. 1992 AIM disk. It had an¢ ARC'd program called DRAW 7. with¢ full docs.¢ Software Infinity made up the DEC¢ 1991 issue of the AIM disk. It has¢ many great games on side #2.¢ These AIM disks are really¢ loaded with ARC'd files, and will be¢ found in our LIBRARY.¢ We next saw a number game with¢ DIGITIZED VOICE, from Germany. It was¢ not a "SAM" disk. ALEX demonstrated¢ the AIM 1992 disk and all its¢ program. We saw a COLOR TETRUS type¢ game demonstrated by ALEX. Very¢ interesting. You match the colors.¢ Its not for you if you are color¢ blind. It will be in the library. It¢ is called "ULTRA TETRUS". We then saw¢ a great ABBUC disk with fantastic¢ graphics, as usual.¢¢ JACK GEDALIUS demonstrated a¢ light pen he bought from Best¢ Electronics. It comes with a¢ cartridge. It has drop down menues.¢ The light pen socket will not easily¢ fit into some 130XE joystick ports.¢ What you have to do for a simple fix,¢ is to take use an extension, or to¢ take off the case on the 130XE and¢ enlarge the joystick port #1 so it¢ will fit. Its very easy to do. JACK¢ showed us the different menues that¢ come with the program. We saw the¢ different resolutions with the pen¢ and the various colors you can use.¢ He showed us the different geometric¢ figures it can produce, from circles¢ to rectangles. You can fill in the¢ shapes with colors. You can also¢ print text in various sizes. You can¢ magnify your creation. You can do¢ mirror images, make 4 or 8 copies of¢ the drawing on the screen. You can¢ fill in each mirror image with¢ different colors. JACK put on such a¢ terrific demonstration that all the¢ members of the club who were present,¢ decided to buy a light pen. ALEX is¢ going to contact the store to see if¢ we can get a discount on a large¢ order. JACK really got the membership¢ excited about the light pen. A well¢ done job JACK! The price of the pen¢ is $25.00 from Best Electronics in¢ California.¢¢¢ DOOR PRIZES:¢¢ JOE LEBER¢ JACK GEDALIUS¢ HAROLD PEGLER¢ RON FETZER¢ ALAN SHARKIS¢ Lately it seems that HARRY T's¢ number has been lost by the computer.¢ Hmmm. Any skulduggery afoot? Naw, its¢ just bad luck HARRY, guess the¢ computer feels you won enough times¢ for now.¢¢¢ Submitted by¢ Ron Fetzer¢¢ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>END<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<¢
