¢ ()()()()()()¢¢ Presidents Message¢ by ALEX PIGNATO¢¢ Without going into details, I must¢say that 1991 was a 50/50 year for me¢personally. However it was a great year¢for the OL' HACKERS, and in fact it ¢has been a banner year. We increased¢our membership by over 30 %, and we¢got some really great new members who¢compliment the great members we already¢had. The NEWSLETTER has been a great¢success, and we owe our first gratitude¢to our newly departed friend KRIS¢HOLTEGAARD to whom this issue has been¢dedicated, and who was the one who by¢himself, created the nucleous for¢it. KRIS was joined in his efforts¢first by RON FETZER, and then by our¢SYRACUSE member TOM ANDREWS, (also a¢member of A.C.E. Syracuse) who both ¢worked on the printing phase. KRIS was¢very proud of our NEWSLETTER, as much ¢I was. Then through the efforts of¢CARLOS HURTADO, my Co-Editor, with whom¢we worked as a well oiled team, we were¢able to put out a NEWSLETTER which has¢gained favorable widespread recognition¢throughout out the 8 BIT world.¢¢ I'm hoping to see an even better¢1992, and so far we are going in the ¢right direction. All the prior officers¢have agreed to remain in their ¢respective positions, which augers well¢for the club, While the NEWSLETTER¢continues to receive praise.¢Meanwhile, there is a ground swell¢of support for 8 BIT owners through the¢efforts of people like JEFF McWilliams¢and BEN POEHLAND, who are behind a big¢push to show ATARI INTERFACE MAGAZINE¢that there is a broad base of 8 BIT¢folk, asking them to create an all 8BIT¢magazine. BEN tells me that Ads will¢run in CURRENT NOTES, AIM, & EXPLORER,¢so look for them. He advises that 1100¢mailings are planned by MARCH 31, at ¢the rate of 100 information kits per ¢week. This project will involve 7000¢xeroxes, and 3500 labels, all done as¢volunteer work, and privately financed.¢as well¢ If these two people can do such a¢herculan job, the very least we should¢do is to send in our postcards to the¢address in the Ads, or to BENJAMIN L.¢POEHLAND, 179 SPROUL Rd./Rt. 352,¢Frazer, PA 19355-1958. Be sure to¢include your name, address, and phone¢number and ask for the 8 BIT KIT. The¢OL' HACKERS have already submitted ¢their names, and we are backing this¢effort fully, and so should all of you¢that read this message. it only takes¢a few seconds and it may bring in a big¢reward if we are jointly sucessful.¢¢ OK folks-the ball is in your court¢so pick it up and run.
