¢¢ MINUTES OF THE JUNE 1990 MEETING¢¢ GENERAL MEETING:¢¢ AL BEITCHMAN started presiding over¢the JUNE meeting, his last as our OL'¢HACKER CLUB PRESIDENT. That's right,¢it came as a shock to most members. AL¢has now gone the way of the IBM CLONE.¢More and more it became AL'S business¢partner, then his home companion. We¢are sorry to lose AL and he will be¢missed.¢¢ While waiting for the meeting to get¢started JACK GEDALIUS again went¢through "CARD SHUFFLER" with his¢family digitized pictures.¢¢ POTPOURRI:¢¢ ALEX PIGNATO read his letter and the¢reply to JOAN RYAN, ACE, ST. LOUIS,¢8-BIT SIG CHAIRWOMAN. They too are¢plagued with low membership at the¢meetings. JOAN returned a disk ALEX¢had sent clearly marked with many¢warnings, PLEASE DO NOT X-RAY, BEND or¢FOLD!, DISK ENCLOSED, MAGNETIC MEDIA,¢DISK IS ENCLOSED clearly marked all¢over the package, but their not so¢observant letter carrier folded the¢envelope over and jammed it into her¢mailbox. He had managed to bend the¢disk, cardboard and all. A GERMAN¢disk, ALEX sent JOAN made full circle.¢The disk contained many ST. LOUIS, ACE¢PRINT SHOP ICONS.¢ HORST DEWITZ produced three disks he¢had traded with NAPCO. They were a¢GAMES DISK, a CPR DISK, (sure fire¢winner with marvelous graphics) and an¢ICON PRINTER PROGRAM. NAPCO has¢contacted RON MOTLEY and now is a new¢member of NEAR*US. You remember, dont¢you, "NORTH EAST ATARI REGIONAL¢USERS"?¢ The MAY issue of L.I.A.U.G. has¢articles by HORST and STAN SCHENFELD.¢ALEX mentioned that he had not¢received the last couple of their¢newsletters!¢¢¢ CARLOS HURTADO stated that the next¢OL' HACKERS NEWSLETTER will be on disk¢as discussed at our MAY meeting. HORST¢DEWITZ, HAROLD PEGLER, MIKE BRYANT and¢AL ATKINS responded to his request for¢volunteers to do the copying for¢mailings and members use. Master disks¢will be mailed to the volunteers who¢will bring completed copies to the¢next meeting, which will then be¢packaged stamped and mailed by ALEX.¢ ALEX offered a toast, (with coffee,)¢to HAROLD PEGLER for a long and HAPPY¢RETIREMENT. Today is HAROLD'S second¢day into his retirement.¢ PICNIC TIME! The third annual OL'¢HACKERS picnic is now scheduled for¢SUNDAY AUGUST 5th at the BETHPAGE¢STATE PARK picnic area. The rain date¢will be SUNDAY AUGUST 19th.¢¢ DOOR PRIZE:¢¢ HARRY TUTHILL was asked before the¢drawing if he wanted to come up and¢select his prize. HARRY declined, and¢said he would wait. It didn't take¢long, his number was the second one to¢pop up. In addition to HARRY winning a¢JUNE prize, the other winners were:¢¢ATARI WORD PROCESSOR MANUAL¢J.LEBER¢¢P/S UTILITIES w/DOCS¢H.TUTHILL¢(& JACG GAMES)¢¢USEFUL UTILITIES-2 sides¢A.BUONGIORNO¢¢ANTIC APRIL/MAY w/DOCS¢A.ATKINS¢¢ZYBEX/TROLLS etc.¢H.DEWITZ¢¢SYNCALC/SYNFILE w/DOCS¢M.BRYANT¢¢ DEMONSTRATIONS:¢¢ ALEX demoed "TOBASIC.OBJ" and¢"SWITCH.BAS", these programs are fast¢becoming two of his favorites.¢"TOBASIC.OBJ" will take you to basic¢without a cold start, If you had¢originally loaded without basic.¢"SWITCH. BAS" will switch you back and¢forth between DOS and BASIC in a¢matter of a second. These are small¢programs but are very useful when¢needed. Each can be included when¢using other programs.¢¢ "P/S UTILITIES" came next with¢features such as a COMPANION save,¢SCREEN MAGIC SHOW and a help screen.¢¢ The games disk had "ZYBEX" a shoot¢'em up type of game that would win the¢approval of many small children. Also¢games like "CHICKEN", "FAILSAFE",¢"FIVE STUD POKER", "FOOTBALL",¢"CASINO" and more.¢¢ ANDREW BUONGIORNO stepped up for¢SHOWTIME and announced he was¢introducing "PIGGY SOFTWARES, the¢first time anywhere. Needing a couple¢of programs in a hurry and not being¢able to find them he told us he wrote¢his own.¢ The first one was "INCOME VS¢OUTGOING PAYMENT", where you enter¢weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly¢income and payouts. These figures are¢adjusted by the program for your use.¢ The next was "RETURN ADDRESS MAKER"¢which can be edited, printed, start¢over, etc. Useful when you run low on¢your supply of labels.¢ The third program was "ATASCii TO¢ASCii CONVERSION". Normally the¢conversion is ASCii to ATASCii¢so that ATARI users can convert and¢use IBM programs. This program allows¢the ATARI user entry into the IBM¢world. The program contains a disk¢directory to lead you through the¢process.¢ Then a program "DOES YOUR TELEPHONE¢NUMBER MAKE A NAME". Again the program¢is menu driven and all the user does¢is to sit back and let the program¢continually search the alphabet for¢any name you like as it comes on¢screen.¢ ANDREW then lead the applause for¢his "PIGGY SOFTWARE".¢¢ FUTURE MEETING DATE:¢¢ Future meeting dates for the OL'¢HACKERS ATARI USER GROUP are:¢¢ AUGUST 11th, 1990¢¢ The date is a SATURDAY and is¢scheduled for the PLAINVIEW/OLD¢BETHPAGE LIBRARY.
