  6. 1. Enter Windows 3.1  
  7. 2. Starting at Program Manager, pull down the File menu and select Run... 
  8.    (the shorthand notation for this sequence is "Program Manager|File|Run") 
  9.    and at the command prompt type the letter (a-z) of your disk drive 
  10.    followed by install (example: d:install).
  11. 3. The program will default into the c:\hmapro directory and will occupy 
  12.    about 5.5 Mb of disk.  You will have the opportunity to choose your drive 
  13.    and/or directory name.
  14. 4. At the end of installation, an options screen will be presented to you.  
  15.    We recommend you press OK (choosing the default settings) since all of 
  16.    these features can be configured on-line when the program is running.
  17. 5. After installation, Dr. Schueler's Medical Adviser (UK) should make an
  18.    icon located in the Dr. Schueler's Medical Adviser (UK) program group.
  19.    If you have a substitute desktop program (e.g. Norton's Desktop) you may
  20.    not get an icon set up for you.  If this is the case, you can launch the
  21.    program by double clicking on the HMAWIN.EXE file located in the C:\HMA
  22.    directory in File Manager.  See your desktop documentation for setting up a
  23.    icon (the Dr. Schueler's Medical Adviser (UK) icon should appear if the
  24.    path is set up correctly).

  29. 1. Windows 3.1
  30. 2. 4 Mb. RAM memory (need at least 2,600 Kb free under Windows).  You can 
  31.    check your system memory by pulling down the Help menu at Program Manager 
  32.    to "About Program Manager."
  33. 3. VGA (640x480). 
  34. 4. 386-16Mhz or above

  37. Using the Program

  39. We are assuming you are familiar with the use of a mouse and the Windows 3.1 
  40. environment.  If you require additional assistance in Windows, please refer 
  41. to your manual or the appropriate Help section.  The Dr. Schueler's Medical
  42. Adviser (UK) contains help sections at all screens that will describe how
  43. to use the program.

  46. Troubleshooting

  48. 1. Screens looks funny (fonts on buttons are too small or difficult to read):  
  49. Check with your video card dealer to make sure you are running the most 
  50.    up-to-date video drivers for your card.  If you do not have the Windows 
  51.    Arial (TrueType font) on your system, then Windows may substitute the 
  52.    next available TrueType (this may not be to your liking!).  Go into 
  53.    Control Panel under Fonts to make sure your TrueType fonts are enabled 
  54.    and Arial is present on your list of available fonts.  If Arial is not 
  55.    present then reinstall the this font using your Windows 3.1 disks.  We 
  56.    have chosen Arial as our button font for its readability.  All other 
  57.    fonts in the HMA can be chosen by you in the Options section.
  58. 2. Printing problems:  The Dr. Schueler's Medical Adviser (UK) uses
  59.    Windows Print Manager to perform its printing tasks.  Unlike word
  60.    processing programs that contain their own printer drivers, we are using
  61.    the drivers supported by Windows.  For this reason you must have a Windows
  62.    print driver loaded to Windows.  See your Windows documents or Printers
  63.    under Control Panel to make sure your printer is supported.  Ensure that
  64.    the correct print driver is installed for your printer.  If your printer
  65.    supports multiple emulation modes, ensure that the print driver matches the
  66.    current emulation mode of your printer.
