  1. License Agreement between Fairfield Language Technologies and the End User.   
  2. By using this software, you are agreeing to the terms of this license.
  3.  
  4. (1) License
  5.  
  6. (a) The Rosetta Stone software is licensed, not sold.  If Fairfield 
  7. Language Technologies so requests the User will exchange the product 
  8. produced by Fairfield Language Technologies for an updated version.
  9.  
  10. (b) The Rosetta Stone is hereby licensed for use on one computer only.  
  11. Any other use is by special license only.
  12.  
  13. (2) Warranty
  14.  
  15. Fairfield Language Technologies warrants that this is a standard copy of 
  16. The Rosetta Stone software and so warrants for 6 months from purchase.  
  17. Fairfield Language Technologies offers no other warranty.  Fairfield 
  18. Language Technologies shall NOT be liable for any indirect, incidental, 
  19. or consequential damages of the software.  (Except in states where such 
  20. disclaimers are not allowed.)

  22. (3) Restrictions

  24. The User may NOT modify, alter or change The Rosetta Stone in any way 
  25. whatsoever.  The User may not use The Rosetta Stone to create any 
  26. derivative work.  The User may not use the application code except 
  27. with data supplied by Fairfield Language Technologies except by 
  28. written permission from Fairfield Language Technologies.  The User may 
  29. not extract or use any part of The Rosetta Stone software or data.  The 
  30. Rosetta Stone software may not be reduced to human comprehensible form.  
  31. It may not be decompiled, reverse engineered, translated, or disassembled.

  33. (4) Export restrictions.
  34.  
  35. The User agrees and certifies that neither The Rosetta Stone nor its 
  36. documentation will be transferred, directly or indirectly, where such 
  37. transfer is prohibited by the United States Export Administration Act.  
  38. The Rosetta Stone will not be used in any manner which otherwise 
  39. contravenes said Act.

  41. (5) Termination.

  43. User may terminate license by destroying all copies of software and will 
  44. terminate license by violating terms of license.
  45.  
  46. (6) Government End Users
  47.  
  48. The Rosetta Stone was developed at private expense.  No part was 
  49. developed with government funds.  It is a trade secret.  Its use 
  50. and treatment is subject to Federal Acquisitions Regulations 52.227-7013.  
  51. The license confers only RESTRICTED RIGHTS.
  52.  
  53. (7) This agreement shall be construed in conformity with the laws of the 
  54. state of Virginia.
