  1. How to recover corrupted/lost .MEM files in V12:
  2.  
  3. V12 Version 12.1.5 and later
  4. ----------------------------
  5. At the DOS prompt inside of the TM directory type:
  6.  
  7.      1) MAGIC $$$        to create the TmMEM.MEM from the system 
  8.                          defaults.
  9.  
  10.      2) MAGIC $$$-       to create the TMmem$$$.MEM from the systems    
  11.                          defaults.
  12.  
  13.      3) MAGIC $$$+       to create both the TmMEM.MEM and TMmem$$$.MEM
  14.                          from the system defaults.
  15.  
  16. This is useful when the .MEM files have become corrupted or the system is
  17. not working properly.  There is no need to extract the files from the 
  18. Master Disks starting with 12.1.5 and later versions.

  20. V12 Versions 12.1.4 and earlier
  21. ------------------------------

  23.      Replacing the TMmem$$$.mem File
  24.      -------------------------------
  25.       1) With earlier versions of V12 (12.1 to 121.1.4), there is an   
  26.          unpacked copy of the TMMEM$$.MEM file on Disk #1. Copy it over
  27.          to their TM directory with:
  28.  
  29.                     *                **
  30.                COPY A:\TMmem$$$.MEM C:\TM
  31.

  35.      2) If the Tmmem$$$.MEM on Disk #1 is corrupted or missing, it can be 
  36.         extracted from the TmMISC.LZH file on Disk #2 of the 3.5 disks or 
  37.         Disk #3 of the 5.25. TO do this:
  38.  
  39.      CAUTION:  Before starting this procedure we recommend you make
  40.                backups of the complete directory.  You can backup to
  41.                diskettes or even just backup to a different directory by
  42.                making a new directory and copying all the files in the
  43.                TeleMagic directory.
  44.  
  45.             A) Insert Master Disk #1 (3.5 or 5.25) into the floppy drive
  46.                and copy the lharc program to their TM directory by going
  47.                to the DOS prompt inside of their TM directory and typing:

  51.                     COPY A:\lharc.exe 
  52.  
  53.                          (* see below)

  55.             B) Now insert the Master Disk containing the TmMISC.lzh file
  56.                (Disk #2 of the 3.5 disks or Disk #3 of the 5.25) into   
  57.                floppy drive and type:
  58.

  60.                     Lharc x A:\TmMISC TMmem$$$.mem
  61.  
  62.                This will extract the TMmem$$$.mem file from the
  63.                TmMISC.lzh file and place it into their TM directory.  The
  64.                file is only one byte when it is first extracted.  After
  65.                they log into TeleMagic the file will be updated and will
  66.                be the correct size.

  69.           CAUTION:  Do not use the command `Lharc x A:\TMmisc  *.mem'
  70.                     because it will over write the TmINDEX.mem.  If you
  71.                     over write the TmINDEX.mem file you will lose all of
  72.                     the User Defined Indexes.  They will have to created
  73.                     from scratch unless you have a backup of the
  74.                     TmINDEX.mem.

  79.      Replacing the TmMEM.mem File
  80.      ----------------------------
  81.         If the TmMEM.MEM on Disk #1 is corrupted or missing, it can be  
  82.         extracted from the TMMISC.LZH file on Disk #2 of the 3.5 disks or
  83.  
  84.         Disk #3 of the 5.25 Disks.  To do this:
  85.  
  86.             A) Insert Master Disk #1 (3.5 or 5.25) into the floppy drive
  87.                and copy the lharc program to their TM directory by going
  88.                to the DOS prompt inside of their TM directory and typing:

  96.             B) Now insert the Master Disk containing the TMMISC.lzh file
  97.                into the floppy drive and type:

  100.                     Lharc x A:\TMmisc TmMEM.mem

  102.                This will extract the TmMEM.mem file from the TmMISC.lzh 
  103.                file and place it into their TM directory.  The file is
  104.                only one byte when it is first extracted.  After they log 
  105.                into TeleMagic the file will be updated and will be the
  106.                correct size.
