  1. Q: "I am running TeleMagic under Windows 3.0 on a network and I am
  2.     getting this error: 'Open error PRN.PRN (5)'.

  5. A: "This is happening because Windows 3.0 has a problem with printer
  6.     ports when it is running on networks.  We do have a workaround,
  7.     would you like me to fax the instructions to you?"

  14.     "The first thing you have to do is change your Windows printer setup.
  15.     Start up Windows and double-click on the Control Panel to 
  16.     start it. [Control Panel is often in the window called Main]
  17.     Next, double-click on Printers.  You will see a list of 
  18.     printers that are set up to run under Windows.  Click on the first
  19.     one to highlight it [a black highlight bar wil appear]. 
  20.     Next, click the Configure button.  This will bring you to 
  21.     a printer setup screen.
  22.     There will be a box on this screen with several printer port
  23.     choices listed, such as LPT1:, LPT2:, COM1:, etc.  Use the 
  24.     scroll bar to scroll the list down to the second page.  
  25.     On the 'second page' of this list you will see two different
  26.     printer ports called 'LPT1.OS2 ans LPT2.OS2'.  Click on 
  27.     one of these to select it, then click the OK button to save 
  28.     the change.
  29.     What this does is makes Windows print through DOS instead of
  30.     directly controlling the printer ports. Please repeat this 
  31.     for each printer you have installed.

  33.     When you have finished setting up your printers, exit to DOS
  34.     and start TeleMagic.  When you are in the program, touch
  35.     P for Print, then D for Direction.  Choose 1 for LPT1.  
  36.     This will set your printer to LPT1: instead of PRN:.  You will
  37.     need to repeat this step for each one of your users who will be
  38.     running under Windows.

  40.     You should now be able to use TeleMagic on your network
  41.     while running Windows."
