PRODUCT : PARADOX NUMBER : 554
VERSION : 3.5
OS : DOS
DATE : September 11, 1991 PAGE : 1/1
TITLE : INSTALL PARADOX 3.5 FROM THE 'C' DRIVE TO THE
'C' DRIVE FOR INSTALLATION OR UNPACK PROBLEMS
If, after installation, any of the executable files are missing,
the following procedure is a possible solution:
I. Make a subdirectory in the root directory of your 'C' drive
to contain the files from your Paradox product disks.
Type: md \pdxdisks -- the directory name is user
definable.
II. Make \pdxdisks the current directory. Type: cd \pdxdisks
III. Use XCOPY to copy the contents of the product disks to the
new directory (pdxdisks in this example). This step is to
be done for each diskette. Type:
xcopy a:*.* c:\pdxdisks /s
The /s is used to copy all subdirectories from the
floppies, as well.
IV. Use the SUBST command to associate c:\pdxdisks (again, this
name is user defined) with a drive letter, in this example
a:. See your DOS reference manual for a description of
this command. Type: subst a: c:\pdxdisks
V. Use the Paradox install program to install the software.
From this point, the install program will act normally.
Paradox will still put itself in a directory called pdox35.
Type: a:install
VI. The last step is to return the drive association back to
normal. The /d option removes the virtual drive
association. Type: subst a:/d
VII. The installation is complete and you can now delete the
directory, and all its subdirectories, that you created to
hold the product disks (c:\pdxdisks). Paradox is now
contained in pdox35 and ready to use.
