  3. ENSONIQ Soundscape software for Windows 95
  4.     Driver version 4.00.38b
  5.     Application version 2.00.24

  7. PLEASE NOTE: These drivers are for the Soundscape card SNDCRD006AAWW,  
  8. SNDCRD006ABWW, and SNDCRD006ACWW only.  These drivers are NOT compatible 
  9. with the SoundscapeVIVO card.  If you are unaware of which Soundscape 
  10. card you own, please contact Gateway technical support before installing 
  11. these drivers.

  13. PLEASE NOTE #2:  There are two things that you need to do in order to 
  14. install the Windows 95 drivers for the Soundscape card.  You must first 
  15. install the Windows 95 drivers; then you must install the applications 
  16. disks.  Please read these instructions thoroughly and then proceed with 
  17. the installation.

  19. Installing the Windows 95 Soundscape drivers for the first time
  20. (use these instructions if you have never had a Soundscape card in your system before)
  21. 1. Insert Soundscape PnP card and boot your PC.
  22.     Windows 95 will automatically detect the Soundscape card.
  23.     
  24.     When prompted for which driver to install for the new hardware, you 
  25.     will need to choose "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" 
  26.     and point the browser to were you extract the files at.
  27.  
  28. 2.  Click on OK.
  29.  
  30.     It will then prompt you to copy the files from a:\
  31.  
  32. 3.  Click on OK and it will begin copying files from the floppy.
  33. 4.  It will then detect the gameport joystick followed by the Soundscape Sound 
  34.     Blaster emulation
  35.     Please note:      The joystick driver will need to come from the Windows 
  36.     95 install media  or if already installed, Windows 95 will automatically 
  37.     copy the driver for you.

  39. If Windows 95 does not detect the Soundscape Sound Blaster emulation or asks you 
  40. to re-boot before it detects the Sound Blaster emulation, there is a conflict 
  41. in the system. Please refer to the section titled "Driver Configurations."
  42.  
  43. Updating your Windows 95 SoundscapeVIVO drivers
  44. If you already have a version of the Windows 95 Soundscape drivers installed, the 
  45. procedure to update the driver is very simple.
  46.  
  47. To access the driver configuration page:
  48.  
  49. 1.    Right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties."
  50. 2.    Select the Device Manager tab.
  51. 3.      Double-click on "Sound, video, and game controller."  This will expand 
  52.     that tree branch, allowing you to see the ENSONIQ Soundscape driver.
  53.     
  54. 4.    Double-click on the ENSONIQ Soundscape branch and click "Driver."
  55. 5.    Click on "Change Driver" and then "Have Disk."
  56. 6.    Point the path for the drive to where you have placed the updated driver 
  57.     and click on "OK."
  58. 7.      Choose ENSONIQ Soundscape and click on "OK."
  59. 8.      Click on "OK" again.

  61. It will then copy the needed files to your hard drive and update your system.

  64. Installing the Application files and DOS Mode compatibility
  65.  
  66. Before continuing with your installation, you need to try playing both 
  67. a .WAV file and a .MID file using the media player program to be sure 
  68. that your Soundscape card is functioning normally.  If both files play, 
  69. continue with these installation instructions.  If either file does not 
  70. play, please contact Gateway technical support to trouble shoot your installation.

  72. Now that your drivers are installed and functioning normally, you need to 
  73. install the applications disks, which were included in your download, so 
  74. that you have DOS MODE compatibility and also the Voyetra applications.

  76. The applications disks are very easy to install:
  77.  
  78. 1.  From the Explorer program, open the directory were you extracted the download
  79. 2.  Find the SETUP.EXE file and double click on the file
  80. 3.  Follow the directions on the screen
  81. 4.  When prompted, choose typical install
  82.  
  83. Continue following the prompts on the screen.  When you are prompted to insert 
  84. disk 2, simply click on OK and the system will continue copying files.  Once 
  85. complete, reboot your system for changes to take effect.

  87. Congratulations, you have now installed everything that you need in order to 
  88. use the Soundscape card including the proper files to initialize your Soundscape 
  89. card when you want to play games in DOS. 
  90.  
  91. When you want to play games is DOS, simply go to "Start" and then "Shut down and 
  92. restart in MS-DOS Mode" You will see the Soundscape card initialize.  All that 
  93. you need to do now is setup the games and you are ready to play.
