SS_W95.EXE: ENSONIQ Soundscape software for Windows 95 Driver version 4.00.38b Application version 2.00.24 PLEASE NOTE: These drivers are for the Soundscape card SNDCRD006AAWW, SNDCRD006ABWW, and SNDCRD006ACWW only. These drivers are NOT compatible with the SoundscapeVIVO card. If you are unaware of which Soundscape card you own, please contact Gateway technical support before installing these drivers. PLEASE NOTE #2: There are two things that you need to do in order to install the Windows 95 drivers for the Soundscape card. You must first install the Windows 95 drivers; then you must install the applications disks. Please read these instructions thoroughly and then proceed with the installation. Installing the Windows 95 Soundscape drivers for the first time (use these instructions if you have never had a Soundscape card in your system before) 1. Insert Soundscape PnP card and boot your PC. Windows 95 will automatically detect the Soundscape card. When prompted for which driver to install for the new hardware, you will need to choose "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" and point the browser to were you extract the files at. 2. Click on OK. It will then prompt you to copy the files from a:\ 3. Click on OK and it will begin copying files from the floppy. 4. It will then detect the gameport joystick followed by the Soundscape Sound Blaster emulation Please note: The joystick driver will need to come from the Windows 95 install media or if already installed, Windows 95 will automatically copy the driver for you. If Windows 95 does not detect the Soundscape Sound Blaster emulation or asks you to re-boot before it detects the Sound Blaster emulation, there is a conflict in the system. Please refer to the section titled "Driver Configurations." Updating your Windows 95 SoundscapeVIVO drivers If you already have a version of the Windows 95 Soundscape drivers installed, the procedure to update the driver is very simple. To access the driver configuration page: 1. Right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties." 2. Select the Device Manager tab. 3. Double-click on "Sound, video, and game controller." This will expand that tree branch, allowing you to see the ENSONIQ Soundscape driver. 4. Double-click on the ENSONIQ Soundscape branch and click "Driver." 5. Click on "Change Driver" and then "Have Disk." 6. Point the path for the drive to where you have placed the updated driver and click on "OK." 7. Choose ENSONIQ Soundscape and click on "OK." 8. Click on "OK" again. It will then copy the needed files to your hard drive and update your system. Installing the Application files and DOS Mode compatibility Before continuing with your installation, you need to try playing both a .WAV file and a .MID file using the media player program to be sure that your Soundscape card is functioning normally. If both files play, continue with these installation instructions. If either file does not play, please contact Gateway technical support to trouble shoot your installation. Now that your drivers are installed and functioning normally, you need to install the applications disks, which were included in your download, so that you have DOS MODE compatibility and also the Voyetra applications. The applications disks are very easy to install: 1. From the Explorer program, open the directory were you extracted the download 2. Find the SETUP.EXE file and double click on the file 3. Follow the directions on the screen 4. When prompted, choose typical install Continue following the prompts on the screen. When you are prompted to insert disk 2, simply click on OK and the system will continue copying files. Once complete, reboot your system for changes to take effect. Congratulations, you have now installed everything that you need in order to use the Soundscape card including the proper files to initialize your Soundscape card when you want to play games in DOS. When you want to play games is DOS, simply go to "Start" and then "Shut down and restart in MS-DOS Mode" You will see the Soundscape card initialize.
