Demo tutorial:
Launch the demo and select the LTH 155mm artillery piece located at hex 12,26
(you can see the hex map coordinates at the center top portion of the screen)
Once you have select the artillery piece, move the cursor over the enemy
infantry unit located in the city of Petrovka (hex 12,22) You'll notice cross
hairs appear along with projected (estimated) combat losses under the two flags.
Remember these combat loss numbers are only estimates and you will notice some
variance in the actual out come of battle. After you attack with your artillery
unit, you may click the right arrow button (second from the top) to toggle through
all units that still may be moved, or you may simply left click on another unit.
You can see which units can still fire by the chrome circle at the bottom of the
unit and those units that haven't moved yet will have their unit strength shown
in black text (the unit strength number will turn red after a unit has moved
for the turn)
Next, try launching and air strike by clicking on the 'Fly a Mission' button at the
very top of the screen. Then select Ground Strike and click onto the check box at
the bottom of the pop-up window. You'll see a jet cursor that you can move to enemy
units to attack. Move the cursor to an enemy you would like to attack and left click
onto the hex to initiate the attack. The other selections to choose from should be
self explanatory. Just remember to fly Wild Weasel mission against enemy Air Defenses
in the area before you attempt any ground strikes. You'll need to consider that you
have a limited amount of Air Mission points per turn (in the full game these points
will be dictated by your 'Air Superiority level' for that scenario)
To buy new units, select the Requisition Unit button (fourth from the top of the
screen) You'll notice your total prestige available near the upper right corner of
the screen. Select a unit to buy (its border will highlight when selected) After you
have selected a unit, please notice the extra unit abilities that you can add on to a
unit at the bottom of the screen (Recon, Combat Engineer, Air Defense, Bridging,
Helicopter, Anti-tank, Combat, forward observer, etc.) when you select one of these
abilities, you'll notice some of your unit statistics will increase. Each extra ability
that you select for a unit (you may only select two per unit) will cost 30 additional
prestige points.
Exit the Requisition screen and click onto the Deploy Forces button (fifth from the top)
and place any units that you purchased in the Requisition screen. You see dark deployment
hexes on the map where you may place these new units.
To view information about a specific unit you can right click on a unit or go to the Field
H.Q. button and scroll through all of your forces. You'll notice some units have leaders
attached to them (you can see these units on the map screen by the star in the bottom right
hand corner of the unit icon) Leaders give units additional abilities.
Move all your units and try concentrating your attacks. When you have moved all of your units,
click on the end turn button near the bottom of the screen and the computer AI player will then
move his forces. Remember there are only two turns in the demo. Enjoy!
