  9. |RHistory:|N The Crozet Archipelago was discovered in 1772 by the Frenchman Marion Dufresne who named the islands after his collaborator Crozet, who annexed the islands on behalf of king Louis XV.
  10. In 1964 a meteorological and scientific station was built in Possession Island.
