  12.   This  is  another  program  by   the 
  13. prolific  STOS  P.D.   author   Andrew 
  14. Oakley,   and  this  one  is  quite  a 
  15. departure   from   the   usual   games 
  16. orientated   stuff  that  he   usually 
  17. writes.
  18.   
  19.       When  i first got hold  of  Race 
  20. Results,  i  was under the  impression 
  21. that  it would be one of  those  horse 
  22. racing  betting  aids.   Far  from  it 
  23. however,  it  is  in fact  a  database 
  24. system for keeping track of  Athletics 
  25. race results.
  26.  
  27.    The program is set out in the  form 
  28. of a GEM-LIKE,  drop down menu system, 
  29. and you can start by entering the name 
  30. and  club of your athlete  along  with 
  31. their  number  and the  event  they're 
  32. running   in.    Once  the  race   has 
  33. finished you can enter their finishing 
  34. position and time.  
  35.  
  36.   It has most of the features that you 
  37. would  expect of a database  including 
  38. load and save  files,  search,  delete 
  39. record, insert record, merge and sort. 
  40. There  is  also  a  printing  utility, 
  41. which  can be configured although  not 
  42. very much.

  44.     There are also options  to  change 
  45. the  screen colours,  check your  disk 
  46. for space and see how much free memory 
  47. you have,  as well as a simple  clock. 
  48. If you want you can even display a map 
  49. of the course, for marathon's etc...
  50. The  map needs to be drawn with  degas 
  51. first though.   There is also a  basic 
  52. macro  key facilty so you  can  assign 
  53. often used text to the function keys.

  55.    The  program is put  together  well 
  56. enough, but unfortunately this type of 
  57. program doesn't appeal to me very much 
  58. (mainly    because   i   don't    like 
  59. athletics),  and unfortunately i can't 
  60. see  it appealing to very many  others 
  61. either.   If you're an athletics freak 
  62. then  this could well be  of  interest 
  63. otherwise   it's  not   really   worth 
  64. looking  at.   Maybe a footy one  next 
  65. time `evil`?.

  67.   The program is public domain, but if 
  68. you send the author a fiver he'll send 
  69. you some other programs by him.
