RACE RESULTS v3.0
*****************

ANDREW OAKLEY
*************
REVIEW BY KEEFY
This is another program by the
prolific STOS P.D. author Andrew
Oakley, and this one is quite a
departure from the usual games
orientated stuff that he usually
writes.
When i first got hold of Race
Results, i was under the impression
that it would be one of those horse
racing betting aids. Far from it
however, it is in fact a database
system for keeping track of Athletics
race results.
The program is set out in the form
of a GEM-LIKE, drop down menu system,
and you can start by entering the name
and club of your athlete along with
their number and the event they're
running in. Once the race has
finished you can enter their finishing
position and time.
It has most of the features that you
would expect of a database including
load and save files, search, delete
record, insert record, merge and sort.
There is also a printing utility,
which can be configured although not
very much.
There are also options to change
the screen colours, check your disk
for space and see how much free memory
you have, as well as a simple clock.
If you want you can even display a map
of the course, for marathon's etc...
The map needs to be drawn with degas
first though. There is also a basic
macro key facilty so you can assign
often used text to the function keys.
The program is put together well
enough, but unfortunately this type of
program doesn't appeal to me very much
(mainly because i don't like
athletics), and unfortunately i can't
see it appealing to very many others
either. If you're an athletics freak
then this could well be of interest
otherwise it's not really worth
looking at. Maybe a footy one next
time `evil`?.
The program is public domain, but if
you send the author a fiver he'll send
you some other programs by him.
