  1.  N.P.G. THE HISTORY

  7.  The History of the quite unknown group
  8. ' New Power Generation '  is similar to
  9. the History of many other groups in the
  10. scene.  But anyway  I have to fill this
  11. pages up with text...
  12.  
  13. ]  The  former-members  of  N.P.G.  were
  14. ]' Lone Starr ' and ' The Byte Pirate '.
  15. ]These two ST-addicted-freaks  were some
  16. ]of  the very first  ST-Guys  which were
  17. ]swapping legal stuff instead of Games.
  18.  
  19.   They were impressed by the Union Demo
  20. and  wasn't able  to leave the Computer
  21. while watching on the Cuddly Demos... 
  22.  
  23.  'Lone Starr' had before his ST an C-64
  24. and  was  experienced  with  PC and  AT
  25. Computers. He was one of the very first
  26. who had swapped the TEX-Demos. He still
  27. has  his  C-64  and  has  a  job  which
  28. allows him to work on a computer  ( and
  29. when  I  say  Computer I  mean  a  very
  30. horrible-expensive-mega-workstation ).

  32.   'The Byte Pirate'  was  ,  before  he
  33. explored the world of Demos,one of this
  34. little    Game-swappers  without  being
  35. important in anyway.But unluckly he was
  36. busted and was about to leave the whole
  37. mess when he saw his first Demo...
  38.  
  39.   Then he used his contacts to get more
  40. and more Demos.  That was the time when
  41. he met the N.D.R. ( the meaning of that
  42. letter-construction is really  meaning-
  43. less at all).    The only member of the
  44. N.D.R. was 'Lone Starr', both dicovered
  45. their aim to get as much  Demos as they
  46. can  and so  they  joined  together and
  47. formed the 'New Power Generation'. That
  48. was in October 1989.
  49.  
  50.   Three months later 'Lone Starr' asked
  51. a  demo  swapper  in   the   south   of
  52. Germany to  join... he refused , but he
  53. finally joined in early 1990 as the 6th
  54. member: 'FAA'.
  55.  
  56.   The other three new members were 'the
  57. Invisible Men'  ( ' T.I.M. '  but later
  58. 'Garth'), the Future Fighter ( 'T.F.F.'
  59. and even later 'Apollo') and 'Blagger'.
  60. Then  ' TBP '   left   the   Crew   and
  61. 'the Guardian Angel' ('T.G.A .') joined
  62. in his place.  The  very first releases
  63. were Disks , with  many unpacked little
  64. Demos  copied  on  one  Disk and marked
  65. with a  Bootsector & a 'Desktop-Display
  66. -Picture'...  Then when the first Coder 
  67. joined the crew (Garth)  we produced an
  68. Intro ( in one month of work ! )  which 
  69. included  an  overscan-scroller ( awful
  70. slow ), colour-cycles, musixx (wow..?!)
  71. , a distorter, a VU-meter (ugly-colors)
  72. and few rasters...
  73.     We   were   always  aware   of  our
  74. ' substandart ' (arf arf) and called it
  75. 'Nothing Important Demo' (...)   Lately
  76. I think it was a mistake, because if we
  77. had called it  'greatest demo the world
  78. ever has seen' or 'best in...'  ( Where 
  79. have I read this before...?! ) it would
  80. have been spread a bit more... but with
  81. that  name  only  one  crew  puts it on
  82. there Intro-packs, 'TBC' ( thanks ' Doc
  83. Prof '  even  if  you  have still Disks
  84. from me ).   After that  release nobody
  85. has heard anything for a long time from
  86. us,but then  we  get  an  offer to make
  87. a guest-screen for the same group
  88. mentioned above 'TBC'. But the mistake
  89. was that we had have only 2 month to do
  90. it... We hurry but you can see the
  91. result on your own... (also I want to
  92. mention that 'T.G.A. of N.P.G.' has NOT
  93. done any gfx (not even an pixel)in that
  94. Screen (nur fur Insider witzig...)).

  96. ]     Anyway we produced two more guest-
  97. ]screens for megademos from other groups
  98. ]but only one megademo was released: The
  99. ]European Demos. ( You may know that the
  100. ]whole Screen was done by our  GFX - Man
  101. ]'Blagger', not too bad eh'?!).The other
  102. ]Guest - Screen   was  thought  for  the
  103. ]'Swedish Gold' by 'Phallanx' , but they
  104. ]stopped  that  production.  Then  again
  105. ]there was a long period of darkness...
  106.  
  107. But after a while 'T.G.A.' was bored by
  108. only  swapping demos  and  so he forced
  109. the coders to do a menu-intro  which he
  110. could use on his packed Demo-Disks.That
  111. was exactly one year after founding the
  112. group. But it takes another 4 months to
  113. release  the first  'Demo Compact Disk'
  114. that  was  around X-mas 90-91. ( N.P.G.
  115. claims  the  prize   for  the  lazyiest
  116. coders !!! ) From that date on 'N.P.G.'
  117. has released 31 'DCD`s'.But exactly one
  118. year later (X-mas 91-92) we stopped the
  119. production ...   because  of  " various
  120. reasons... ".

  122. [  Now NPG is working on their megademo,
  123. I saw just some previews ( amazing !! )
  124. but as  I  said  above  we are not  the
  125. fastest ( ...in manyways !? )  so don't
  126. expect it this decade ( har har ).  You
  127. may  ask  why we have never done cracks
  128. or game-menus...  It's  because so many
  129. of our friends were busted in that time
  130. and the second reason  ( and surely the
  131. main one )was that all our members live
  132. in different german-cities. So it would
  133. have taken  ages to supply , crack  and
  134. then spread the production.
