  7.  Here is the 1st article of what should
  8. be a long series. Stories of bands told
  9. by themselves.
  10.   If you are interested in writting the
  11. story of your band.Come on,out with it!
  12.  
  13.    As I'm the founder of Mad vision,I'm
  14. going to narrate you our long story...
  15.  
  16.  
  17. ]         Christmas 1988 to August 1989:
  18.  
  19.   The band is not really formed.Def KLF
  20. under  the  names  of  ACID ECSTAZY  or
  21. ACIDUO ( I choose the name before  Acid
  22. house movement. I  was  one of the rare
  23. people knowing what XTC pills are ... )
  24. has   been  in  different  lame  little
  25. french  bands   releasing   some  games
  26. menus ( Ghostbusters ,Ghost house... ).
  27.  
  28.    I asked  to  Alexis and  Fantasia my
  29. 2 best friends at school to join me.
  30.   We decided to nammed us :  MAD VISION
  31. probably  under  the  influences of the
  32. skate clothes  STREET VISION  , and the
  33. american comic mag MAD.It did something
  34. very hard to understand what  it  could
  35. mean...

  37. [   We liked this name because each time
  38. [we try to give a significance to Mad V.
  39. [ours  poor  brains  failed. The meaning
  40. [may be the  view others  people have of
  41. [Mad Vision's members => Wacky guys.  It
  42. [can also define our cynic, nihilist and
  43. [detached vision of life. Or just be our
  44. [definition of an hallucination  due  to
  45. [XTC pills or any illicit substances.

  47. ]                     August 89 to 1990:
  48.  
  49.   We planed to do a megademo called the
  50. MEGABLAST , but  it failed because of a
  51. lack of motivation,whereas BMT,ACF,FIRE
  52. CRACKERS ( now AVG ) , FASHION and many
  53. other did screens for us...    We  have
  54. lost too much time  and  energy on this
  55. demo...  We have worked on for about 10
  56. months !
  57.  
  58.    We left the Ghostbusters for Genesis
  59. a band  we found with SPY 3 and MAXI of
  60. SPYJACK company. But  because  of  many
  61. internal problems we left the band  and
  62. created a new one: The intruders.
  63.  About Genesis that is the same band as
  64. the one that did a screen in the trans-
  65. beauce 2 ( It is but an exemple ).
  66.  
  67.     With  the Intruders  we coded a few
  68. intros and MAXI  released a few cracks,
  69. the  Overlanders  ripped  a few one off
  70. too.
  71.    But DOM asked Maxi to join the REPS,
  72. so the band split up.
  73.  
  74.   Fed up by all those bands,we couldn't
  75. control everything.We (I,Alex,Fantasia)
  76. decided to be a 'self-governing' band.
  77.    Our 1st production under the name of
  78. Mad Vision  has been an intro menus. As
  79. many  people wrote us  to tell us  they
  80. enjoyed it,we released 3 other menus.
  81.  During this period we also coded  some
  82. intros for the Reps.(We were still good
  83. friends with  MAXI  after his departure
  84. for the REPLICANTS.)
  85.  
  86.   004  who did background work for  the
  87. famous french band S.T.C.S of the Blade
  88. Runners joined us. Because  his friends
  89. Ratboy,Banzai and Jabberwoocky left the
  90. ST scene for different reasons.
  91.  
  92.    He  has been  the  fourth  to  be  a
  93. member of the team.So he nammed himself
  94. 004. Few days later  SPY 3  joined us ,
  95. because  we  were friend  for a so long
  96. time , it  was stupid, not to  let  him
  97. join MAD VISION.
  98.  
  99.     Our swapping activities began to be
  100. very important & we begin winning fame.
  101.  
  102.  In June 1990, MAXX-OUT joined us after
  103. his travel to the I.C.C 1 with the REPS
  104. because  he  was a  very good friend of
  105. SPY 3 and MAXI , because  he  owned  an
  106. autograph of Nick/T.C.B on his Joystick
  107. and because he was  definitively a cool
  108. guy.

  111. ]                                  1991:
  112.  
  113.   We begin to release game menus,and if
  114. people blamed us  for  our beeing proud
  115. of ourselves in the scrolltext, it came
  116. only from  jealous bands , because with
  117. less than 4 menus we had been famous.
  118.  Whereas as we said in the texts of our
  119. intros, "our aim is not to compete with
  120. F.O.F , P.P. , TMB or BBC but to spread
  121. faster than  light  Replicants'cracks ,
  122. some  of the games  may not work but we
  123. don't mind.That's the menus of the mega
  124. consumers !"
  125.   But  because  of  a lack  of time  we
  126. stopped our menus. Many bands copied us
  127. and  release now  file version menus  ,
  128. doing nearly nothing except having the
  129. latest news.One of my regret is to have
  130. stopped just when Awesome began,I would
  131. want to check  which of us  will be the
  132. fastest.

  134.    We also opened a UK section with HAL
  135. and the Highlander.
  136. ]                                  1992:
  137.  
  138.  The MASSIVE ATTACK is finally released
  139. ST is almost dead(?),Amazine issue 1 is
  140. there, some professional menus are done
  141. by  Gangster  of  Mad Vision UK  (a new
  142. active  member ).    And  we  did  some
  143. background work with/for Factory.
  144.  
  145.  
  146. ]   As a conclusion,I want to stress two
  147. ]facts:
  148.  
  149. ]   - Mad Vision  has always tried to be
  150. ]a band where friendship ruled.
  151.  
  152. ]   - Our policy  has  always  been  and
  153. ]still is...   NO COMPROMISE !
  154.   It means,that we have ALWAYS said all
  155. that we really think. And  did all that
  156. we wanted to.  Some of you may think we
  157. are stupid assholes, but they can't say
  158. we are hyprocrits and opportunists.
  159.  
  160.  Some people think we are proud because
  161. we often  slag people off , but  if  we
  162. sometime say  somebody  does  something
  163. lame,we have never said like many bands
  164. do,that we are the best,and if you take
  165. a  closer look  to  our  scrolltext you
  166. will perceive the tone is that of irony
  167. and humour.

  169.  I hope you didn't get bored of reading
  170. this,if you did... Tell us the story of
  171. your band...   The  story   of  Quartex
  172. or  Hotline  must be  more  interesting
  173. because full of rapes ,sodomies & other
  174. interesting habits between members. I'm
  175. sorry but we don't usualy practise such
  176. things between members in MAD VISION...

  179. [MAD VISION is about to die...

  182.       We  have  decided  to  stop  ours
  183. HACKtivities on atari ST:

  188. - Too much troubles with  french  soft-
  189. ware companies.
  190.  
  191. - ST scene is dying...
  192.  
  193. - Coding on ST is hard,boring & limited
  194.  
  195. - ST is lame,isn't it ?

  199.  Mad Vision's members are still friends
  200. and  we  really hope to make a new band
  201. together  in  a  near future on  a  new
  202. atari machine ( FALCON ? ).

  204.     But  we  really hope to release  an
  205. other issue of AMAZine with a real code
  206. in language machine and a smooth scroll
  207. in July 92.
