  14. 'Action Game Aids' section of the Gamers' forum, 'Action/Arcade' section of the 
  15. Modem Games forum (Library 10), the 'General' section of the UK Computing 
  16. and UK Communications forums. Supplementary messages will also be posted in 
  17. the Gamers' and Modem Games forums containing additional information. DOOMUK 
  18. will be updated every week and if members permit it I will also print 
  19. telephone numbers, availability times and some sort of a score table.

  225. DMSER.ZIP - essential utility for playing modem Doom,
  226. supports speeds up to 57600bps with compression. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
  227. DMINIT11.ZIP - straightforward replacement of Doom's SERSETUP interface.
  228. DBMNU.ZIP - another sersetup replacement that's easy to use.
  229. DMCOMMS.ZIP - same as DBMNU I think.
  230. DCC.ZIP - very very useful utility that replaces setup and permits modem 
  231. play on custom levels, warping to any episode and level, compatible with
  232. new high speed communication utils.
  233. DOOMIT.ZIP - Official UK Doom tournament utility. You'll probably need this
  234. to take part in the tourney.

  239. The official Doom tournament will be hosted by the Modem Games forum in 
  240. the Action/Arcade section (Library 10). To register, contestants must post
  241. a public message to me, the Tournament Administrator, Nick (100334,206). 
  242. This MUST be done as quickly as possible.

  244. I'm drafting the rules for the tourney, but I can confirm that prizes
  245. will be available for the winner and runners-up. Unfortunately due to
  246. circumstances beyond my control the tournament has now been postponed 
  247. indefinitely due to an insufficient number of participants (as most of them 
  248. appear to be on holiday). Also, due to the widespread availability of hacking
  249. utilities for Doom 1.2, which enable players to change the parameters 
  250. of all weapons, the registered Doom version required for the tournament
  251. will probably be 1.5 or 1.6 (if it is ever released :)).
