First off, there ARE no documentation files yet!
But, don't dispair. The .CFG files are well commented. While this
package may not be for the person who is relatively new to the mail
scene, anyone with a good knowledge of how their fidonet software
works, and with a novice level of knowledge of the internet, should be
able to follow the config files fairly well.
Only warning I will give you up front: GIGO does NOT read your message
bases, nor will it touch them. GIGO only understands .PKT files that
your echomail and netmail processors create; they are the generic
fidonet file transfer format. Please, keep that in mind.. :-)
Assistance is available via a variety of means, some of which are
already available to you:
The UFGATE echo; an echo where gateway people all hang out.
It is not restricted to any one particular peice of softare.
The GIGO echo; it's available by private arrangement from
my system (netmail me for details at 1:203/7707). For something
far more cost effective, try ...
The alt.bbs.gigo-gateway newsgroup - ask your host, sysadmin,
net.guru, or read the man pages - if you are already able to read
newsgroups, many hosts will have this newsgroup available. If not,
then you may get it via internet mailing list.
The GIGO-L mailing list - all messages posted to alt.bbs.gigo-gateway
are duplicated and sent as email to all of the mailing list's
recipients. In addition, one can send email to the mailing list,
and that message will be put back to the echo and the newsgroup.
If you wish to subscribe, send email to gigo-r@wmeonlin.sacbbx.com ;
you will be automaticly subscribed and sent more details.
Now, that being said and done, anyone up to writing some readable docs?
Anyone who knows me personally, will know better than to ask me -
I'm too scatter-brained to even come close to being understandable! :-)
