TROUBLE SHOOTING
MOUSE
Problem: Mouse locks up.
Solution #1: If mouse is loaded in upper memory, change your
AUTOEXEC.BAT to load it to conventional memory. Refer to your DOS
manual for the proper procedure.
Problem: Mouse does not work.
Solution #1: Make sure that you have selected the mouse option from
the Main Menu.
Solution #2: Make sure that the mouse cable is securely connected to
your serial or bus port then restart the game.
COMPUTER
Problem: Computer Locks up.
Solution: If your computer is faster than 486/DX 33Mhz, then turn your
turbo option off by pressing the turbo switch on the front panel of the
computer or refer to your computer's owner manual for instructions.
SOUND
Problem: No sound (Sound Card).
Solution #1: Make sure that the sound card is operational. Make sure
that the speakers are connected to your sound card, and are turned on and
the volume is turned up. (refer to your Sound Card's owner manual for
instructions).
Problem: No Sound (PC Speaker).
Solution #1: Check the volume setting on the Main Menu and make
sure that it is set to the highest desired setting. The internal Computer
Speaker in general is very small and weak, so to be able to hear any kind
of sound effects through it, the computer needs to be placed as close as
possible to you.
Solution #2: To force the program to use the PC speaker every time,
follow these instruction: (at the DOS prompt)
1) CD\KIDSPLAY (or whatever you named the directory)
2) COPY KP.BAT SPEAKER
3) Run the game again.
Problem: A lot of noise instead of the actual sound effects.
Solution: If your computer is a 386SX 16Mhz or 386SX 20Mhz and is
running some kind of Expanded Memory Manager (i.e. EMM386) then
your computer does not have enough speed to run animations and sounds
simultaneously. To resolve this problem, you must disable the EMM
(refer to your DOS manual for instructions).
Problem: If Sounds and Animations are not Synchronized.
Solution: Run the airplane animation from the alphabet game. If the
sound is over and the airplane is half way across the screen then follow
the steps below to speed up the animation:
1) CD\KIDSPLAY (or whatever you named the directory)
2) COPY KP.BAT GOFASTER
3) Run the game again.
