C-130 Hercules Transport Dec 9,92
created and copywrite by Vic Palermo CIS 70632,752
Version 2 Dec 23, 1992
This zip files contains the files for the C-130 Hercules transport.
The herc is a well known aircraft that is in service with more than 50
air forces. This aircraft proved itself recently in the gulf war, running
numerous sorties for transport, elint, intruder drop, and gunship roles.
The version modeled is the C-130k used in the Royal Air Force for transport
missions and is depicted in desert colours. The model features working flaps,
gear, and both static and spinning props. I made the reference model from
scratch and is not based on the canard design, so stalls are normal. I did
have to do a lot of fiddling with the weight and power settings. The result
is that the takeoff acceleration is a little too fast (pretend you are Jeto
assisted), otherwise, take off and landing is quite conventional. With one
notch of flaps, you should climb at about 1800-2200 ft/m at about 150kts. This
is really close to specs. Approach and landing speed at full flaps, wheels down
should be no less than around 110kts. The model will stall at 100 kts.
You must be careful with this aircraft as you can easily get behind the power
curve and think that everything is ok. If you do steep turns, add a lot of power
as it is a heavy plane with a lot of drag and will sink rapidly. I modeled
the aircraft as a heavy ( like it is in real life) and will handle as such. Be
aware of a lot of momentum in rolling manoeuvres, ie when you bank, the aircraft
will have a tendency to continue rolling in the direction of bank; you will
have to correct this tendency.
Please, any suggestions are welcomed. I have encluded the folowing files
necessary for this aircraft:
Version 2 corrects to high acceleration rate at startup, and slightly modifies
the low speed handling as suggest by a c-130 pilot.

Note: AAF is not needed to fly this sim.
Any response would be welcomed. Reminder: The c-130 Hercules is not
multi player capable. I did not upload the .afx file, but I will be happy to do so
if so requested.
ciao and enjoy.
