Well, for starters, you should read your manual for DooM; it says
that you need at least a 9600-baud to play on a modem connection. Aside from
that, I can't help you too much; we've always used DCC 1.0 to play
modem/network games. (I'm pretty sure that you could find it on infant2 or
ftp.uwp.edu.)
