  23. I hate to reply to flames, but I just had to jump on this one...

  25. First, is this so hard to keep the attribution line in the message?  How
  26. will people know that you are quoting a message from John Van Essen if you
  27. just copy two lines from his message without saying where you took them from?
  28.  
  29. And more importantly, I think you should (re-)read John's messages carefully,
  30. if you still have them somewhere.  They make sense!  And in your replies, you
  31. delibarately ignored some of the important points.  Well, I don't want to
  32. flame you or anybody else, but you shouldn't be so short-minded.  For example,
  33. you wrote that some people just have to hit 'K' if they see a message which
  34. does not belong to this newsgroup.  This is OK for most people, but some
  35. readers of a.g.d have no direct net access.  They get their newsfeed during
  36. the night, with their modem.  They get _all_ messages which were sent to the
  37. newsgroup and they have to pay for it.  So when they want to hit 'K' because
  38. some moron posted a huge binary file in a discussion group, it's already too
  39. late: the file is on their computer and they paid for it.  These poor guys
  40. have to unsubscribe from the interesting groups if the traffic get too high.
  41. It's only an example: never assume that all people are reading their news in
  42. the same way as you do!

  44. OK.  Back to the main topic now.  Let's have a RFD about the best way to
  45. replace alt.games.doom and all the bogus subgroups by a new tree under
  46. rec.games.id...
