I think you need an IPX network (like Novell) or even a tcp/ip network
(which pc nfs might be). The "ipxsetup" is included with DOOM but the
tcp/ip is something you must get from an ftp site. There is a FAQ for
networking doom and even the DOOM FAQ mentions a good amount of tips.

This too can be had from an ftp site or even ftp-mail.
All the above should be found in infant2.sphs.indiana.edu in the
/pub/doom directories.
I hope that helps- of course if you don't have ftp access, life is a
lot harder- you could check some local BBS's.

P.S. It is possible to hook up network cards without a network server
and get them to play doom via IPX.
