P.E.T.'s post must be the zillionth I've seen with the comment "The cure is...
don't run Doom in Windows!".
Well, for the zillionth time, here is the reason why many people run Doom in
Windows (or would like to). Actually, there are two.
1. Running Doom under Windows can cure the PS/2 Pyschomouse bug. I have sent
my help file to dozens of people requesting the file for this purpose and
it does seem to work. By far, most of the people emailing me for it want
the file for thisreason alone, usually with the comment that theyt can't
afford, or don't want, to buy a serial mouse.
2. Multi task type desire, as Michael describes. Less common, but people have
asked me for the help file for this reason.
So, people, please stop saying "Don't run Doom under Windoze" as it's highly
likely that people doiung so _know_ it runs better under DOS but, chances are,
they have no choice.
