  25. if you are going to spend that kind of money you should carefully 
  26. research your video decision.  The Matrox is a great gui board as you 
  27. stated; however, it is abysmal is dos.  How bad?  It will make you system 
  28. run like a slower 486 playing doom.  For example the matrox scores 
  29. ~600cps in pcbench 8.0 when in a pci p90; my 'mere' 486/66 vlb, 8mb, with 
  30. a plain jane et4000, 1mb video card scores ~7000 cps.  That is not a 
  31. typo!  You should check out computer shopper for august; they do a 
  32. benchmark on the matrox is a p90.
  33. Of course my et4000 sucks in windows, but I do not need windows all that 
  34. often, so I'm really hapy happy with my video performance.  Check out the 
  35. ati turbo; it is supposedly the best all around card.
