Oh, mudding and virtual communities are one thing, and
it really doesn't use a lot of bandwith to send a few commands.
But doom is a constant link between two players sending back
and forth completely oblivious to the current traffic level.
There are lots of other ways to network to play and there
are always modems, none of which will invoke the tragedy of the
commons.
