We have some interesting teams coming from all over. The
"midwest DOOM champion", winner of the tournament in Wisconsin,
will be travelling 900 miles to attend. Don't miss your chance...

WHEN: Saturday and Sunday, August 13th and 14th.
The action starts at high noon both days.
Saturday's games will take about an hour
per team. Plan on playing all day Sunday (be
an optimist).
Game times will be available in advance so you
can come and go as you please, however, no-shows
will count as a LOSS!
DETAILS: Saturday - QUALIFYING ROUND.
Each two person team will play three 15 minute games
against randomly selected teams. Points will be
awarded to each team on the following basis:
10 points for a WIN
1 point for each team FRAG, up to 35
5 points for winning by > 20 frags
5 points for losing by < 5 frags
* 50 point max. per team for each game, points will
not be deducted for negative scores.
After all teams have played 3 games, the scores will
be ranked and the top 16 teams will play Sunday.
Sunday - ELIMINATION ROUND.
The cream of the crop will play in a double elimination
tourney, two-on-two team deathmatch style. John Romero
and Shawn Green, the DOOMGods, will be here to defend their
title. To put it in their own words (gratuitous DOOM quote):
"To all the mortals:
Prepare to suck it down, for we are unstoppable and unbeatable!"
In other words... WHO WANTS SOME?!?
PRIZES: 1st Place Team - $500
2nd Place Team - $250
3rd Place Team - $150
(more prizes to be announced later)
ENTRY FEES: $15 for AVG members
(per person) $20 for nonmembers
$10 for AVG membership (future tourneys)
Tournament space is limited (due to time
constraints) so HURRY and send in your entry
fee to reserve your team's spot!
RULES: 1. We will use the latest version of DOOM episode one.
2. The teams are: green & indigo vs. brown and red.
3. Qualifying games will last 15 minutes, one game
each on E1M3, E1M4, and E1M5. Teams will play
all three games back to back, finishing in about
one hour on Saturday.
4. Tourney games will last 20 minutes and will be
played on randomly selected levels.
5. If you exit the level of play, YOU LOSE!
6. Points are scored by fragging your opponents.
Points are automatically deducted for suicides.
In addition, we will deduct 2 frags for each
friendly fire kill... DON'T KILL YOUR PARTNER!
7. Each game will be played using the -skill 2 and
-nomonsters parameters (-altdeath will NOT be
used in order to speed up the fragging).
8. You cannot play dead! You must come back
to life within 10 seconds of dying.
NOTES: If you like the feel of YOUR mouse, joystick, or
headphones, bring them along with any drivers and
hardware (BUS) that you will need. We aim to please!
John Romero and Shawn Green from id Software will
be bringing along DOOM II: Hell on Earth to give a
demonstration on Sunday. This will be the latest
version and will include several new monsters not
seen at the last demo. You don't want to miss this
one. Spectators are welcome.
