There was a large speed difference in 386 chips, as the SX
stood for SiXteen (methinks), and it WAS in any case, 16 bit
externally. The 486SX is jus missing the co-processor, and
I'm not convinced you'll take a major speed hit from the
processor.
However, generally DX's are thought of as higher-end boards,
and so the whole system'll probably have fewer bottlenecks
on a DX motherboard.
